Maybe there was a point in decreasing the size of the handguard even if it would have hurt the proportions of the sword? Moving her second hand closer to pommel might have also improved the look a bit.
Anyway, the picture is great. It's just my mind trying to make it a little bit more practical

If I saw this on the cover of a paperback, it'd be an instant buy.

And if there was something actually in the book on top of that with the depicted scene, I would tell everyone about it on top of that instant buy.
Seriously, you have no idea how it peeves me that there's sometimes a cool scene on the cover, but it's never mentioned or described in the book. Marketing done right in that you bought it, but cheap that then it's completely unrelated.
