Description richard e. grant
PEN, minor DIGITAL redraw

Richard E. Grant , in the throes of giggling manically and then lunging forward to consume your soul.
The reference image I used for this is so nice as well, of the Hello magazine look-how-mild-I-am-in-this-big-knitted-j umper style. I just happened to put my very heavy slant on it.

This was originally done the old fashioned way with a 6B pencil and a scrap of notebook paper, but the process of aesthetic cleanliness dictated that it be scanned and redrawn.

Lovely chap, that Grant fellow. I often find myself wandering around and doing quite a credible snarky and irritated Withnail impersonation.

Wow! You have such variety in your styles it's amazing! I just failed miserably trying to draw Mr. Grant and yours is just so amazing! The only place I know him from is The Little Vampire, sadly, but as an excuse, I was a kid when it came out and kids don't ask for much in their movies. The sketching is superior and then to hear that you did it with pen! I'm so scared to sketch in pen, but I just might after seeing this; this is really awesome.

I still love this film. Watching it right now in fact. How apt that it's your featured deviation at the moment

Kind of reminds me more of his character in Warlock than Whitnail and I... but well, like that matters

You did a great job with this one. I love how you got a whole expression with (relatively) very few lines. I like it.

I think we all do Withnail impressions now and again.

We were trying to figure out what other GOOD films REG has been in, yes he's a lovely guy, and a great writer, and brilliant as Withnail, but, I've seen many, many, many of his films, and damn if their not mostly crap!

I'm adding it to the old faves, It can talk to my Paul McGann story pictures.

Oooh, yes. He picks some absolute clangers on quite a regular basis. Hudson Hawk, anyone? I swear that he and Alan Rickman pick their scripts by lining them all up, tossing a dart at them and hoping what it lands on is going to be tolerable. heh

On the other hand, when he hits the mark, he hits it well. Posh Nosh was a giggle and a half, and I'm was impressed by his voicework on Dr Who: Scream of the Shalka.

But I'm still smarting from having paid to see The Serpents Kiss. You owe me eight dollars and two hours of my life back, Grant!

heh heh! Now you mention it, I loved him on Victoria Wood's Christmas special a few years back in the Sense and Sensibility piss-take as Rickers' long suffering assistant! And in the comic relief 'Curse of Fatal Death' where he played the 'quite handsome doctor' I loved him in that, almost as good as Jonathan Pryce and his dalek bumps...he he!

You think Rickers and REG toss a dart at the scripts together, at least they're not Jonathan Pryce! He gets their left overs!! I read that when Rickers turns down a role, it gets offered to Richard E. and then when he turns it down Jonathan takes it!

Surprisingly Jonathan has less crap in his resume... Well, less crap compared to the proportion of good films he's got in there, damn, he's done some stinkers too!

Stupid stereotypical British bad guys!!!

That film is my all-time favourite. It has to be. Withnail is such a wonderfully spidery character.

"cake, and fine wine!"

Need I say that this is a fantastic picture? The high contrast really sets off Mr Grant's slightly manic expression very well. The pose is fantastic and the likeness is top notch.
