Description
A quick thing that started out as something that was not Rorschach and turned into something that almost is.A smiley face is a kind of Rorschach Test, after all.
Actually I can't think of anything more terrifying than meeting smiley Rorschach down a dark alley. Except for disco-flasher Rorschach, that is.
P.S. That film is going to either be awful or wonderful, but either way it can't compare to Alan Moore reading Rorschach in that patented disjointed n' gravelly Sauf Landun voice.
P.P.S. Damn it, his cravat is all wrong. Oh well.

Your Rorschach reminds me of one of these.
Except Rorschach is that little bit more terrifying. :c

COUGH. COUGH. OH MAN. JESUS, SERIOUSLY OH GOD.
I...I kind of died laughing as soon as I saw the thumbnail. I know, I know, I really shouldn't be because it's goddamn Rorschach and he would probably set me on fire or something but GODDAMN. It's one of those things that are just completely unexpected and hilarious at the same time.
The fact that it's got this gorgeous, beautiful, painted portrait sort of feel to it makes that smiley all the more out of place and funny.

Danke. Indeed, ol' Kovacs would probably rip you a fire-and-chimney set for writing such a thing, but since he exists in a fictional universe I think we're safe.

Go smiley Rorschach, go!
I like the painting technique, specially the strokes. Did you use Photoshop?
And yes, the movie may be a completely disaster o a really good film,m lets hope we get to see the second (still, as you say, nothing will compare to Rorschach's journal...)

It's adorable but at the same time I'm going "Oh dear, I'm scared."
I love how very traditional this looks, I honestly thought it was on canvas. Your brushstrokes are UM-AY-ZING.

Ack! It's so adorable, it's absolutely terrifying. Makes me want to photoshop a picture of Rorshach beating the crap outta someone....with a smiley mask.
Also, what's all this about the movie being a letdown? It's a fairly unknown comic due to it not being a DC or Marvel so hopefully they don't make it to mainstream and stuff. Right?

Liquidsilk In reply to xXTheMuffinKingXx [2008-11-03 18:24:26 +0000 UTC]
Danke.
Watchmen? Unknown? Art thou joking? It's one of, if not the most acclaimed comic of all time. From the little I've seen Snyder's being true to the heart and word of the book, but there'll undoubtedly be some changes (enough to make Moore grumpy, anyway).

Pants-peeing adorable! And at least the one promising thing about the movie is that it wasn't made 15 years ago.

Liquidsilk In reply to ChemicalAlia [2008-11-03 18:27:06 +0000 UTC]
I'll remember that one if I ever make a Watchmen film parody poster: 'stunning' (The Times) 'stole my idea' (M. Night Shyamalan) 'ants-peeingly adorable' (ChemicalAlia).
And yes, yes that is something. The downside is that it'll look awful in 15 years time. Still, there are always remakes. Thousands upon thousands of remakes.

There was a documentary on British comics on the Beeb one night. They got ol' Alan in to do a bit on Watchmen, and he read a page of Rorschach's exposition out loud. It made me happy.
I do, strangely, have faith, too. I know I'll enjoy it, just as I know Moore and the purist fans wouldn't if they ever brought themselves to see it. It'd be imossible to distill the entire book into one film, no matter how long, so it won't be as good as the printed version, but I think it'll still satisfy.

Yes to every comment made about the movie, but I'm really thinking it's going to rawk. Downside? Now everyone and their little brother will want to be "just like Rorschach". (See Heath-Joker Phenomenon)

A new fabric made from viscous liquids held between two sheets of latex will be mass-produced just in time for Halloween, and small people everywhere will have a legitimate excuse to wear elevator soles.
I, for one, look forward to this brave new world.

I dreamt that his face pattern was changing, but it was changing because his face was actually bleeding underneath.
Really looking forward to the film! :3
Not sure if I'll read the novel before it is released, however.. for fear that it might spoil my enjoyment of the latter. :3

No matter which way around you view these things you'll spoil something for yourself. On the one hand you'll spoil the film for yourself if you read the book, but on the other hand you'll ruin the book if you see the film first because you'll keep noticing the discrepancies between the two. Since the film won't be out until next year (or possibly two years after that) I'd head down to your local comic dungeon ASAP.
