Description I'd like to introduce you all to my latest creation, I've been working on this one for quite a while. He's my most complicated creation to date.

He measures 10.5" from paw to ear tips and approximately 15" from from to back (not including his long tail). He has jointed back legs and wire armature in his neck/back and legs. I used all white fabrics to create him and airbrushed all the beautiful fur markings on by hand.

Clouded leopards are perhaps my most favourite of the big cats. It's such a shame that they are so endangered.

I really hope that you like Nimbus, there are lots more photos of him on my website if you'd like to see more of him.

He has found a new home to go to now.

Tell me how I get a Nimbus the Clouded Leopard like the one in the picture. I have an extensive stuffed collection of realistic clouded leopards. What would the price be.

Very beautiful! I have a crazy question though. You paint on all the details. What sort of paint/fabric combinations so you use that makes the plush stay soft? I was playing around with fabric paints but they usually got the fur to get stiff or stick together.

What type of paint do you use for the airbrushing? I am seeking a paint for white fur that will be water/rainproof if such a thing is possible.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

LisaAP In reply to tinkerpaws [2012-04-11 07:31:14 +0000 UTC]

I mostly use Dye-na-flow paints by Jacquard and heat set them with a hairdyer. They can be set with a hot iron but obviously it's not possible on synthetic fur. I doubt that it would be fully waterproof but for my purposes it's enough. I don't know of any product that you could use on fur that would be completely rainproof sorry.

CMWyvern In reply to LisaAP [2013-09-19 19:53:38 +0000 UTC]

Dye-na-flow? Really? That is what I used on my first 2 posable art dolls, and it did not stick to the fur well at all. It's flaking off over time, made the fur sort of sticky-ish, and I couldn't get dark colors. I did not attempt to heat set it though, I did not know how that would work on fur. I've since switched to Simply Spray and am quite pleased with it.

LisaAP In reply to CMWyvern [2013-09-19 20:13:41 +0000 UTC]

Yep, I agree that achieving black is quite difficult. Β I apply the paint very slowly in many layers allowing each to fully dry and brushing out the fur out before adding the next layer. Β It's very time consuming but I have never found it to flake at all or the fur to get sticky doing it this way. I heat set using a hairdryer.

CMWyvern In reply to LisaAP [2013-09-29 18:55:45 +0000 UTC]

Hm. I guess the dryer makes all the difference. You might give simply spray a try though. The colors are more intense so you don't have to add as many coats.

Simply spray sounds very ineresting, I may give it a try.Β  Thanks for the heads up.

Sorry for the (incredibly) late reply. Thank you for your kind words. He's not hard nor is he squishy, he's somewhere in between lol. He's firmly stuffed with polyfil and has a bag of plastic pellets in his tummy for added weight. Oh and he has internal wire armature so that he can pose nicely too.

Of course the real thing may just walk up and bite your leg rather than rub up against it, lol. But Nimbus is the loving kind all the way.

What's his nose made of? And is he a collectible or a "it's okay to love me!" stuffie (I'm guessing the former, after all that work!)?

LisaAP In reply to Darth-Hellgrrl [2011-06-07 15:26:27 +0000 UTC]

Thank you!

His nose is made out of ultrasuede and, you are right, he's more of a collectible than the 'take me to bed and hug all night' kind. The occasional cuddle is OK though.

Darth-Hellgrrl In reply to LisaAP [2011-06-08 14:50:41 +0000 UTC]

Aw...yeah, I must admit I have some stuffies that will never be mint condition again, after being loved too long or too well...some are just too squzzable for their own good. :sigh:
