LisaDenise In reply to battlemage69 [2011-01-04 08:52:41 +0000 UTC]

battlemage69 In reply to LisaDenise [2011-01-04 08:54:16 +0000 UTC]

perhaps her faith has grown heavy for her to carry.
Or maybe she is weak and can not carry it.

Does the use of religion to crush woman and demonize sexuality sound more fitting to you? Just curious.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

battlemage69 In reply to VictorianPaperAngel [2011-01-29 21:34:55 +0000 UTC]

....I was looking at this with an artist view.

I don't have a clue what you're trying to say.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

VictorianPaperAngel In reply to battlemage69 [2011-01-29 21:39:31 +0000 UTC]

I have an artist's point of view too.

What I'm saying is it seems to be a statement about how women and woman's sexuality is demonized and held down by religion, more than a statement of the model's faith.

I can't of escaped anyone's notice how from the Adam and Eve myth to the Whore of Babylon story Christianity and the bible has little positive to say about women, other than how they should be obedient daughters, wives, and mothers, have babies, be quiet, and not be sexual because women's sexuality is a bad influence on men. Indeed in the biblical stand point if a man is lustful towards a woman it's not the man who is responsible for himself, but the woman's fault for inspiring evil thoughts in him.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

battlemage69 In reply to VictorianPaperAngel [2011-01-29 21:52:54 +0000 UTC]

Well, I believe in God and am a christen.

I understand it's views on women.
I agree is the way we shouldn't run around and sleep with every guy we see. [STD's D8]
Well, being a whore is what I mean.

But in other ways, I can understand what you mean.

But again, the bible was written by men, God may have said more on us women but it could have been removed later on.

agh... there was a king whom's name I have forgotten at the moment.
But he chose what books were aloud in the bible and what weren't. [Thus, Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John]
There once was a book of Mary, which was assumed to be written by Mary Magdalene.
It was written by the nostices church that existed at the dawn of Christianity. It was more towards womens rights I believe.

It's all about what you believe to be right I suppose...

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

VictorianPaperAngel In reply to battlemage69 [2011-01-29 22:00:54 +0000 UTC]

Well I believe in God and I am not a Christian. The two don't really go together as God and Religion not only aren't the same thing, they have little to do with each other. God is God, religion is something a bunch of human beings made up, much like any other social organization. This goes for all religions, not just Christianity.

And this isn't about faith or spirituality or belief, it's just about hard facts and social observation. In America, the marginalization of women and the demonization of female sexuality is largely Christian in nature. And it has less to do with the Bible or the writing of the Bible than it has to do with how Christianity is used in modern western culture.

CrimsonForest In reply to VictorianPaperAngel [2011-01-30 02:02:32 +0000 UTC]

I think the Bible just basically looks down on women.

My two cents. :3

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

VictorianPaperAngel In reply to CrimsonForest [2011-01-30 02:04:47 +0000 UTC]

That is pretty clear for those of us who have read it.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 0

battlemage69 In reply to VictorianPaperAngel [2011-01-29 22:13:01 +0000 UTC]

Well, religion and faith with God are meant to be two different things.
Thus why some say "Jesus is not a religion, it's a relationship!"

And I know.
Too much has changed now in modern times so, it would take me forever to explain how people are using the bible to twist it's words around to demonization a lot of things they shouldn't.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

VictorianPaperAngel In reply to battlemage69 [2011-01-29 22:51:02 +0000 UTC]

Well, and again "Jesus" has nothing to do with it either, but anyway.

And I don't know how much of it is "twisting" when the Bible quite clearly says that Rape is just fine as long as the rapist pays the money her father will loose when he can't sell her to a husband as a virgin bride.

battlemage69 In reply to VictorianPaperAngel [2011-01-30 01:57:47 +0000 UTC]

You do know that all of that changes after Jesus? o.0

The old testament is different from the new testament.
