Precious baby Benton! Benton is my absolute favourite everything ever. He's so darling and brave and sweet and he's so perfectly ponified here, with his little sergeant-stripes cutie mark.

Funny story, I was watching "The Time Monster" with two friends, and at the end of the serial, they were all "GIVE THIS MAN A RAISE! AND SOME BOOZE!"

Oh, that serial is so cracky and amazing. At the end when baby!Benton's a grown-up again and he's standing there nude and has no idea what's going on and everybody's like LOL NUDE (except the Brig, because he's a total gentleman, or possibly just looking on with quiet admiration) and Benton's just learned that there's no point in being too surprised by anything where there Doctor's involved, really, but probably wishes somebody would hand him a robe or something. Benton deserves all the promotions in the world.

Might as well, otherwise it'd just look silly. And maybe colts (or fillies) who enlist either don't get their mark until they do, or they start out with the lowest-ranking insignia and enlist later.
