Whew, cutting it kind of close, I know. This is my entry for the Fantasy Earth Zero contest.Less is more in this case. I wanted something that looked like it could be easily incorporated into the 3D environment of the game and something was similar in cut and style to the other costumes, and yet different from the other sorceresses.
I also spent a lot of time making sure the image was easy to "read" and over all I am pleased with the contrast. I love the way I captured the atmosphere with the lighting and blood red sleeves.
Yay! I am glad to be done. It has been a crazy day.
Used a couple of smoke brushes by fallen-stock to get it done quicker. Other than that, everything else is made up. XD

Its very detailed and intricate even if you did use short cuts, it doesn't show. Very beautiful and it definitely stands out. Good job1

Gorgeous work! Your lighting and color is just amazing. A quick crit though- your anatomy is off. The legs appear very small, especially compared to her head/face/chin. Her hand also seems too small for the face, and it's hard to make out how (left) arm is wrapped in the red cloth. Other than that, really stellar piece! Definitely looks like something that could be the cover of a magazine or on a TCG card.

Sorry, but I reallllly have to disagree with you there. First off, I took a picture of myself and used it as reference so I know all the angles are right. Secondly, I got a degree in figure drawing and I know that 80% of the commercial world draws abnormally long legs because it's more flattering, when in fact, it's not accurate. So you could say I am not following the norm, which would be correct, but the legs are plenty adequate. Maybe not to your tastes, but that's fine.
The hand if opened should be the same length between the chin and the eyebrows, which I think it would be (because you are missing a lot of the knuckle hidden under the staff, and the other side is going back into perspective which shortens the appearance of them, and of course you aren't seeing the palm which would also add considerable length). Sorry if I come on strong here, I am a stickler for anatomy. There are many disciplines of art. For your typical comic hero, yes, they depict long legs and bigger hands. If that's what you do (and it appears you do) you have trained your eye for it so I respect your opinion. However, I respectfully disagree. Actually the hand thing is interesting, looking at your work it appears you draw them too big for my tastes. Perhaps it is a matter of opinion and what you are trying to achieve then.

i get that kind of critiques often, people dont seem to realize realistic anatomy is way to diferent from comic/anime and they tend to think proportions are wrong when their style is actually the one that's anatomicaly wrong. As you said, people train their eyes to see differently, and it worries me because learning human anatomy is so SO important, in order to break the rules you have to know them.
