Description
18x24" 45x60cm acrylic on hardboardWell, I hung this piece over the fireplace this morning before posting it just to see what I thought of it. The thing is that the painting captured what I wanted captured, but I feared it was too blah of a thing to be worth capturing. Close call, but on the whole, it works for me. But then I really like understated things.
I tried painting over the first version of this with a small brush and small brush strokes to see if I could add more interest and perhaps make it, dare I say it, more realistic. But that didn't work. I guess big brushes and big abstract strokes are what I'm supposed to paint. I'm fine with that.

Saw this in your collection Chuck,Β LoL reminds me of the Texas outback, far east or inΒ our Central Plains where you can still find old farm houses and cattle strolling about barbwired fields,Β Tall oaks and Mesquite trees,Β though this looks more like Spring than Autumn, only the russet colors in the trees give it away!Β Like how the light pours through as well!
Great artwork! Β

Texas is certainly more than what I think it is. For me it's simply old westerns, Nebraska, only with more sand. Get an idea and it sticks with you...

Actually not THAT much sand old friend,Β unless you go out to Far West Texas like towards El Paso,Β Texas is more like California countrywise,Β a little bit of everything,Β Far West has desert and mountains and deep canyons,Β Central Texas has grassy prairie and hill country,Β Far East Texas along the Louisiana border has deep piney woods and some swampland! and of course the Gulf Coast,Β if you want more sand,Β There it is!!
Like i told you before, come on down and catch some serious sun-taning!Β I wouldn't come during the late summer though when we start hitting 100+ a day unless your a glutton for punishment!Β Ha! Β Β

I think Turner would have been pleased, it is a fine piece.

Thanks. I like how blues work for shadows however unrealistic they are except on snow.

Thank you for all you comments on my work. I'm always glad when someone finds things they like about my paintings. We're a rather small group. (Which tell me I'm doing art right.)

Such a wonderful atmosphere you've created. What really caught my eye was how you handled the shadows-- they have such a great color and tone that balance the whole painting.

"I'm fine with that." I should think so! The light in this is gorgeous.
