Description
12x16" 30x40cm acrylic on hardboardHere's a scene similar to the last one I posted without the outline and in a different season. I was going to do the same scene, but couldn't get it to work. I much prefer something more abstract like Street in Sun and Shade to this, but oh, well, this was just a little challenge for me to see what I could do.

Thanks. A little too much of a place and not enough mood for me.

Like some quiet corner neighborhood in England Chuck,Β I remember a few British t.v. shows that have this kind of atmosphere like "Last of the Summer Wine."Β the show Catherine-Zeta Jones got her start if memory serves.
Good stuff as usual Chuck!

They're all a quiet corner somewhere in England. I mostly stopped painting straight English scenes twenty years ago because I'd have to rely on photographs. Instead I paint an imaginary country, very much like England and Scotland I spent several month traveling about in my youth.

One trip for 2 months. Otherwise not much, and now I hate to travel more than an hour, but with google street view, I don't have to. I don't recall where you went, if you did mention it, beyond Virginia, anyways.

Hmmm...I've been to Chicago lots of times(got some old Army buddies up there) tromped around Illinois, Oregon,
LOOOVVVEE Colorado(could live there forever just painting the mountains, alas i don't like the cold THAT MUCH!!
My Gawd they had mini-Icebergs floating down the street in Denver!Β )all up and down the East Coast, but never got a chance to go overseas while in the service,Β orders were changed due to a terrorist strike in a Munich beerhall back in 86'!Β Cut down on the amount of troops going overseas and stopped us from wearing our uniforms on trains, planes, etc. when we went on furlough. I've Β been as far north (in America) as Kenora Ont. (northend of Lake of the Woods) as far east as Rondeau Provincial Park in Ont. (lake Erie) as far south as Cincinnati and as far west as Steamboat Springs Co. And I've no intention of going any further.

I have to make areas dark to get the light. I wanted spring, and a flowering tree on the corner, but neither sky or just leafing out trees would provide the shade needed for the light.

Painting can get so complicated sometimes....How boring it would become if it didn't!!!

Rather too quaint, I think. But it was just an exercise, a what if -- I did the last Apple Orchard Mews in my usual style.
