Description I'll end in static. It's been ten and a half years since I quit my day job to paint, and after more than 1000 paintings I find it increasingly hard to paint anything new. Being an intuitive painter, if that inner spring dries up, I'm screwed. It has and I'm screwed, at least for now. Never, ever say "never", but we'll just have to see how things work out.

In the mean while, I'm enjoying writing, and may even try my hand at illustrating my work. New challenges. I've my work cut out for me in both cases, but the days fly by, which means you're doing something right.

Thank you for your works. I have enjoyed (and now too) your paintings. One of early painting I included in my favourites collection was "A Barsoom Landscape". I do not like Edgar Rice Burroughs too much, but your scenery is more evocative than that of John Carters' is. Your "steam punk" serie is beautiful and funny. Your style is not my style but I am astonished by your skill and your vision to capture the light. I will read very carefully your new sci-fy serie and "The End" is my new great favourite by Litka.

And thank you for your kind words. I first read Edgar Rice Burroughs when I was young fifty years ago and my imagination supplied everything that ERB left out, so I've fond memories of those stories. The movie wasn't Barsoom in any way shape or form. I wish I could have kept going with the Steampunk paintings, but alas, I ran out of ideas... a common problem for me this last year or two.

As for this painting, I'm surprised that people like it. For me it was a way of expressing coming up empty with ideas to paint -- but scraping off layers of paint does produce some interesting results. I've only done a few abstract paintings, and unlike you don't really have a feeling for them. I like your stark and simple landscapes (I like understated things) and your bottles on a red shelf and Arquitectura visual no. 3 are both very interesting pieces as well. I guess like a lot of people, I like my abstracts rather defined rather than free form.

Thanks again for taking the time to comment on my work

This is beautiful! I love the colours and the textures. I especially like the touches of orange, like rust under blue paint., and the scratches here and there!

Thanks. Funny that this abstract should attract such modest attention. More than many of my good pieces. Missed my calling.

This is gorgeous! Makes me think of glimpsing something through a wall of ice.

Sometimes the best pieces come after inspiration dries up, because artists become better by pushing past whatever's blocking them. I like to think so anyway. Or I'm screwed too.

Thank you for sharing your ideas. I appreciate it. I guess, right now I'm pretty cool where I'm at. I'm still being creative, each word written is like a brush stroke, except I use too many of them and ain't all that good a it (yet, I hope), but it's fun. I just realized that a month had gone by without painting anything, and when I tried, nothing new or good bubbled up, so I might as well formally give it a rest to see if the desire returns in time. This piece is just what I had after a month, so I turned a lemon into lemonade.Β

Thanks. I guess that's what people like about abstracts; they get to choose what it is. Most people like their abstracts more orderly, however. Doesn't have to be anything, except not a mess, like this.

Great use of colors, wonderful textures!
I fully understand the changes you are facing, exploring... it is good to seek and accept new challenges! Like you I am refining my works, ideas, leaving the illustrations and focusing much more on my paintings again, going back to my old style and see how it can be developed... that is an artists life and it is good Have fun whatever you do, I wish you luck!

Thanks. The nice thing about working with hardboard, is after several failed attempts to get something painted, you can take a spray bottle of water and an razor blade and began to excavate the various layers of paint, which is what we're looking at here. I like you newer, looser paintings, but then, well, that's what I like.Β

You are welcome!

So lets call it the razor blade stlye Anyway no matter how it is done it creates a wonderful multilayer result!

Excellent work! I can tell there is a bit of frustration in this and totally get where you are coming from on the intuitive painting front...once it dries up it's dry for a time. New challenges are good, plus I've spent some considerable time trolling Pinterest for abstract paintings to be inspired by and found that to be helpful.

Glad you like it. Doesn't look too bad over the fireplace at the moment, but it's just an "oh, well" piece; I had a number of attempts at painting over the last month on it, and so to make it something, anyways, took a razor blade to it to bring out some of those layers. Right now I don't miss painting. We'll see how long that lasts.

I've done that...painted and then an hour or two later scrapped up everything with a palette knife.

And for me, the stains left often suggest something to paint.
