Description
Find me on Facebook: www.facebook.com/littleblondegβ¦Test shoot for my female Commander Shepard cosplay.
I've wanted to make FemShep for a while, but never really had the confidence in my armour making ability. Having tackled Fran though (a baptism of fire if ever there was one), I thought the time had come.
There are patterns floating around for the ME2 versions of Shepard, but I prefer her appearance in the third installment, which meant it was back to the drawing board. Consequently most of the patterns for my FemShep were done from scratch, but some were bastardised versions of Julian Bleeks' PDFs.
My undersuit is comprised of a black compression top and matching leggings rather than a wetsuit - I thought it'd be a bit easier to get in and out of. Otherwise, it's a traditional craft foam build. Black EVA foam floor tiles with some thinner, 2mm craft foam for detailing.
I didn't think that the foam alone was a good enough colour to leave unpainted, so everything has been sprayed with a few different coats of car paint. I think it gives a better, more metallic finish anyway, so I'm happy. In the end, it was built up with matt black as a base, then Ford Midnight Grey to get the metal effect. Dinks and weathering comes from a little aluminium colour.

Do umm, you happen to have the pattern at all of the chest piece? ;-; I'm trying to make my own set and I havent been able to draw out the chest piece pattern well or adapt it from the ME2 set.
*flops* cosplay, so hard.

Eek, don't think I do any more, sorry. :/ I pretty much based it around the boob cup though. Made them first, then worked out the rest once they were in the right place. But I did write a blog entry on my Adhley chestplate, which is basically the same, with lots of photos - littleblondegoth.tumblr.com/pa⦠- so you should be able to get the shapes of all the bits from that.

This is simply awesome. The only reason it looks off for me is that its not the Aegis vest (or Serrice Council, as it is referred to in the third game) and that's what I'm used to seeing. But I Love this. The detail is epic, the pose is elegant yet strong. Did I say I love it already?

Thanks very much, glad you like it. I went with the vest that's shown in one of the FemShep CGs they released - they all look a little different though, so it was kind of a case of just pick one and go with it.

Wow, That is a great photo and great costume.
I've never done serious cosplay before, but this seriously makes me want to try. Shave my head and go for a male Shephard.

Try it! This was the first time I'd done a suit like Shepards, and once you get your head round it, it's not too horrific...

Yup.Β Gives it that sci-fi psudo ceramic/polymer material look.Β
(yes, I read the Codec XP )A
Foam huh?Β Never thought about that.Β Might want to though.Β And you said car paint?Β

LittleBlondeGoth In reply to BlizzardTerrak [2013-10-25 21:12:27 +0000 UTC]
Yep. EVA tiles for the bits. Then 2 coats of matt black, one of Ford Midnight Sky and two of clear lacquer. Aluminium touch up one for the detail.
