Description
Attention Odyssey Project mods! If you need this image in a larger size, please let me know! As I am selling prints, I have set it to not allow downloads of the large original image!-----
Paul worked up a lather in his hands and gently started to wash the rash.
Flakes, like scales, began to slough away.
Underneath whirled a mass of colors. Indigo. Vermilion. Rust. Mahogany. And they were⦠moving. Swirling. Copulating with each other. Buds of new, unseen colors exploding from the trysts.
It was beautiful. It was obscene.
It was spreading.
Submission for Odyssey II Project chapter 1 (winner). Color is kind of my kryptonite. I wrecked three sheets of watercolor paper before I finally got one that I liked.
I'm having a lot of fun working on these submissions though. It's giving me a chance to do some work in a style I don't get to do much, and I'm remembering how much I liked working with ink and how little of that I do anymore these days.

I really, really love this selection. It captures a lot of what I hoped to express in the chapter submission - more of a transformation than an infection. Excellent work.

Gonna start off by saying this particular art style doesn't appeal to me. Lemme explain that a bit - Reminds me of these books they would read to us as kids, but those caretakers were a bit twisted, and the art in those books was disorienting, the subject matter nauseating, and I always had this sense of dread going to and during the readings.
This piece calls to mind very strongly those feelings and memories and I think that's why I like it. Particularly for the portion that you've quoted in the description, those emotions, especially that dread, feel key. It's hard to look at and yet I feel I have to. That's not a sensation I get too often so kudos and congratulations on the win.

Well!... I think I take that as a compliment then. I think that's essentially why artists are driven to create art, to feel like they are communicating strong and meaningful emotions and feelings. It's great to hear this input from you, thank you so much.

Congratulations. I had a few picked out that I liked, and yours was on the list. Nice work--I really like the stylized anatomy and fantastic perspective (and coloring).

Thanks man. I can't remember if I commented on your submission for the prologue, but I quite liked it as well and had guessed that it would end up winning. Very professionally finished and well designed. Thanks for the input!

Great deviation (beautiful and insane at the same time!) and no doubt, the best choice for chapter 1

Thank you! But you know what, I know it sounds cheesy but it's true, having fun is more important than winning, and this is turning out, I think, to be a super fun project to be a part of. So I hope you don't feel too bad.

I agreee on that... actually I don't feel bad at all... I just learned what are my mistakes from previous artworks... so I can be better in next submissions... And I like that this is collaboration, so all are involved no matter if their artwork or literature is chosen or not... Once again congratz

its cool and stylistic. I like its raw energy but also commanding strokes.

Based on all your Odyssey submission work so far you hit the HEART of the story spot on.
