Description
and here is the two characters together.Tho who belongs to and
Rhylan who belongs to
Unfortunatly my computer can't handle very big files so I had to draw them both individualy. So if they seem abit off that might be why.
I imagine that Tho took Rhylan to one of his most favourite high place's to watch him dance. Lets hope Rhylan doesn't accidently fall off the edge lol.
was the winner of my digital harpy contest.

Lack of a consistent light source. a.deviantart.net/avatars/t/h/t… " alt=" " title="theresyourproblemplz"/>
Most obvious example is the blond guy. His face is has distinct light coming from the left, the body has the light mostly coming from the right.
Something else that bugs me a little is that the faces are pretty realistic but the further away you get the flatter colours and the less variation in shadows and highlights. The clothes of the person in the foreground are detailed enough, but the colours of the shirt, for example, are flat enough to make it seem like the shirt is just hanging in the air, not resting on his body (since there's no creases, shadows, you know, a sense of it actually being on someone). Textures are your friends.
You win for good anatomy, great details, and good colours.
The background needs a bit of work, I mean, either those are fireflies or stars in *front* of the clouds? and the moon (?) kinda hangs in a mysterious space since the light suggest it's in the foreground and general moon knowledge suggest it's far away in the sky.
But the entirety of the clouds and pillars and the reflection (which is really nice) sets a good mood and frame for your two characters. And I love the wings. e.deviantart.net/emoticons/e/e… " width="18" height="15" alt="

Basically, just work out where your light is coming from, what time of day it is, and work a bit more on your textures.
But a really good job.

thanx very much for your insight buddy. this was extreamly helpful. Yes I know the lighting realy let me down with this one. I painted the 2 characters seperatly before adding them to the final piece. Originaly the fellow in the front was the other way around. I will be careful to plan ahead abit better next time lol. and the shadows on clothes is another thing I will have to keep my eye out for. thanx again for your imput

First of all, I have to say that this piece is so perfectly named and is like a scene right out of the romance of these two characters plucked from their storyline and artistically sketched across canvas with the most beautiful skill in detailing. The whole of the image has such serenity and freedom to it coupled with a lofty angelic romance. The idea of dancing amongst the clouds, the soft pink and cream tones to the clouds to add dreamy effects, the glow of the stars and sparkles in Thodre's wings, the dynamics of the lighting on Rhylan's face, the lovely blue roses resting there, and the amazing reflections really make this piece an amazing tribute to a romantic fantasy image. It is so very beautiful and full of such depth! A truly befitting tribute to the characters and their relationship and all it stands for.
The poses look very lovely, and though there might be some slight problems here and there with the anatomy, the poses attempted are very dynamic and difficult. And for the beauty of how detailed they are and just the movement of the figure itself, it is easy to not even fully catch onto the issues as you find yourself lost just smiling at how the figures look themselves. There are many details that draw you into the image and leave you lost in a wondrous, dreamy world. Anything lacking in texture is outdone by the pure imagination come to life in the composition itself. It just proves, as I was once told by a dear friend, that a picture doesn't have to be absolutely correct to 100% perfection in realistic detail to be a wonderful piece.
Truly over all, this is what fantasy is about...dreams, love, emotion, expression. And I'm so very honored that it could be shown with these two characters! I only hope it leaves others as breathless as it does me! e.deviantart.net/emoticons/h/h… " width="15" height="13" alt="

lol wow this was such an insighful comment thank you so much I have to say I love it when a picture inspires a story idea. So I was hononed when you said that.
ya know I actualy realy enjoyed drawing these two cause they are elfy and fantasy my favourite gern so it was a treat for myself too.
ok if I sound weird it is cause I am tied lol. Don't know why though, I had a full nights sleep. but back to the topic again.
I think I learnt a few new things when doing this pic. It was a big file and I had to shrink it and then join the two together. but the big file allowed me to add in the extra detail and that is what I liked.

I'm really glad you enjoyed working with them They seemed to have behaved well for you!
hehehee And aye elves and fantasy are my favorite combination too
hehhehehee
((and no, you don't sound weird, no worries hehehe))
Well there certainly is a lot of detail in it! It's amazing! And it is always nice when you can learn things while working on art...in that way, no matter the outcome it at least was useful for you it looks really so very wonderful though hun! It's such a breath-taking piece! I showed my mother and she thought it was beautiful too!

I love the colors of the background and the costumes (as usual!) of the two figures. The amount of detail and things to look at (like the blue roses) adds a lot of richness.

Well, I've commented on your characters allready, so I'm going to focus on the background and the overall look of the picture.
First of all, when I say anything 'bad' please let me asure you that it's not because I'm mean. It's just that picture is really good and I think you don't have anything from pointing out only the good parts. Also this is just my personal opinion, so I could be wrong.
Characters:
- See my posts at the other pictures
- One small problem: the light source for the character in the front comes from the right, but the light source for the character in the back comes from the left.
Background:
- Really awesome reflections. Same goes for the clouds
- I like the texture on the pillars. BUT: The further an object gets into the background the less detail you need/have to draw. Since you used the same texture for all the pillars it creats the look that the ones in the foreground have less detail than the ones in the background
- The planet in the sky is in front of the clouds. I think you've intended this, but it creates the illusion of a really small object, because you expect to see a planet, but since it's in front of the clouds it has to be smaller. Also, but that's my personal opinion, I think that you should have used clearer edges for the planet.
Overall:
- The picture is well arranged. The only problem I see is the one with the light sources on the characters. But thats more or less a minor mistake, since not many people will see it anyway.
- The viewer definitely gets the feeling of this picture
- The further things get in the background the less detail you can see and they get more unsharp. Maybe you want to try to use blurr filters next time (Just a tip. Feel free to ignore it)

yes lol I got the light all wrong. I actualy had one character facing the other way until I joined them together and then I flipped one around lol.
Good point about the planet, I will consider that next time. Plus I like what you said about the pillars. that is very true. I will definatly make a mental note of that.
I realy appreciate your insight. thanx heaps for taking the time to observe my work .
I never consider people mean for giving me helpful and honest advice. The only time people offend me is when they say that is crap or that is wrong or that is stupid without giving a reason. It is like an attack more then helpful advice.
so thanx again buddy

((No worries about Rhylan falling...Tho has spells that'll help with that He cast a windwalk and a featherfall spell once on Rhy and himself so they could dance in the air and then float back down to the ground lightly
hehhehehe))
... HOLY!!!!! MACKERAL TABBIES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
my god, buddy! This is sooooooo incredibly enchanting!!!!! You've like perfectly epitomized them!!!! Both of them look so gorgeous, both individually and together! I love the set up of the image as well! And the background scenery is so lofty and perfect for them! It has celestial, artistic flare and just looks so serene and free...just like they are! I love the romance to the image! It's amazing!!!! You floor me yet again!!!!!!! I'm so in awe!!!!! *blushes and cries tears of joy*

oooh dancing in the air sounds so cool. lol.
I somehow new that Rhylan would have nothing to worry about when it came to falling
I was scratching my head abit about the background, I wanted to have a nice fantasy feel to it. I am glad you liked it. I love pillars and clouds lol.
I thought that Tho being able to fly anywhere could go to a special location that was impossible to get to unless you had wings. I am sure the view would be nice up there.
thanx for your lovely comment buddy it made my day
Well I was realy hoping you would like it cause I wanted to thank you for all your hard work in the contest.

GAH! DA ate my reply comment ><
I HAD said
yeah it was a really lovely scene ^^ and it was night and the stars were out in the skies clearly above in the glade they were in so it was like they were dancing with the stars too hehhehe and yeah, no worries there...Tho is very protective of those he cares for
the only falling Rhy's done around him is falling in love
hehehe
I think the background looks really great...it's got a touch of classic fantasy meeting an angelic flare to it....it makes me think of some beautiful lofty secluded spot on a celestial plane that Tho whisked Rhylan away to
awe! thank you so very much for this piece!!! it made my day as well especially after having such a rough week.... truly though it's just soooo breath-taking! I LOVE it!

My boy! He's...so damn pretty! I'm in awe. This is so beautiful! Rhylan's costume is spot-on, I don't know if you referenced actual dancer AF or the pictures that Val did of him, but it looks perfect down to the last detail. And he looks so graceful and free, like the dance has just taken over him and he's merely a vessel for something beautiful, which is how I've always imagined he'd be.
Tho looks beautiful as well, love the reflection in the floor! You really outdid yourself with this, I'm speechless.
