The prophecy of Fenris in Norse Mythology (the short version) Foretells that Fenris the wolf; Son of Loki, at the end of the world will devour the moon, then find Odin and have the ultimate battle in which they kill eachother.
This happens along with many other epic battles. Like with Loki's other monster offspring, Thor will fight 'The Midguard serpant' and suffer the same fate. Loki will be released from his imprisonment by the earthquakes that begin to mark the end of the world too. Basically all the gods will go to war against the giants and other beings until the whole universe basically destorys itself. Even the gods will die and the battles will go on for ages and ages. But eventually at somepoint after everything is dark and black. It will all be reborn again. Different gods and lives and stories will begin again after this world is long gone.
So when armegeddon is here and Fenris is released, it will start with the moon
