• Personal Info
» Sociable | Diligent | Eloquent | Passionate | Loyal «
Clair is a sociable person. She's extroverted, and she loves interacting with people of all kinds, since she's required to handle social situations like parties and the like because of her family's status. This leads her to approaching others before they approach her. Because of her exposure to people, this makes her eloquent. She's a skilled public speaker, and she's used to pinpointing and saying things people want to hear, moreso when she's already gained an insight on what they're like beforehand. Of course, this doesn't necessarily make her a mind reader, and she may say something others may not like— especially when her pride is on the line. Clair is also very passionate about her activities and hobbies. When someone mentions a movie Clair particularly likes, a show she enjoyed, and especially jazz, Clair's mood would instantly light up. This may end with her talking rapidly about it, but it's clear that she truly enjoys what she loves. Clair's diligence helps her see a job through and through. She wants to make sure everything is done well, as she's afraid to be unable to meet the expectations of others. She gives in 100% effort at everything she does, be it studying, rehearsals for a recital, or even just a small side project. Though Clair may seem a little overbearing at times, she will be loyal to those she pledges her friendship to. She's really thankful that there are even people that are able to tolerate her. Clair will fiercely protect these people to the end, even if it means getting herself hurt in the process.
» Ambitious | Competitive | Frank | Observant «
One of Clair's most prominent traits is her ambition. She always strives to do better than she could offer. This leads to her getting more things done in a short span of time, but at the same time, this causes her to push herself past her limits and possibly overwork herself, and doing things that she may not be accustomed to doing. She is also competitive, and she absolutely hates losing in any way shape or form. This stems from her desire to feel validated through being better than others, since it's been hammered into her head that she had to be the best to gain acknowledgement from her parents. She's a sore loser, and she'll definitely dwell on her losses before moving on and pushing herself to do better in that particular field. Although Clair tends to say what other people want to hear, when she isn't trying to gain the favor of someone, she's rather frank about her opinions on certain people and topics. She'd rather not beat around the bush, instead preferring to get straight to the point. This means she's also rather honest when it comes to asking her for advice, which could both be a good thing, or a bad thing when feelings are taken to consideration. Because of her sociable nature and exposure to these social situations, Clair has become observant when it comes to nonverbal language and tone when communicating with people. She's quick to pick up little details she notices when talking to people, like how some scratch their neck while lying and others have a strange tone of voice when nervous. Whether or not she points it out is up to her but she uses this trait to respond accordingly when talking to someone.
» Arrogant | Sassy | Jealous | Overbearing | Insecure «
First and foremost, Clair is arrogant. She is full of herself, and she hates it when other people are getting the spotlight while she's shoved off to the side. She wants to be the best in what whatever field she settles on, and she gets visibly annoyed when others excel at something she doesn't. Although this is her defining trait, this seems to be a front for her insecurity. Because of her past, she feels like she's never enough, and she often bashes herself for her failures. This stems from the expectations her parents had laid out for her, even if she knew it was nearly impossible to achieve. Linked to this insecurity is her more jealous nature. She easily becomes green-eyed when someone she has grown attached to begins hanging around someone else. This doesn't only include people, though; she also tends to get jealous of other people's abilities and proficiencies, which fuel her to try to do better in those certain areas. Clair is also overbearing, and she especially dislikes it when things don't exactly go her way. When she plans something, she gets annoyed when people don't follow suit, and it eventually leads her to annoy people to act the way she wants. This stems from her ambitious and diligent nature, and this seems to be much more evident when it comes to group works— especially when one of her group mates are slackers. Clair has a rather sharp tongue, and she will not miss an opportunity to sass you. This mostly stems from her arrogance, using rude language to talk down to those she deems lesser than herself. She loves making snarky remarks, so it's advisable to make sure you don't leave an opening for her to make jabs at you.

• History
Clair was born into a wealthy family in Manhattan, New York City. Her father was the CEO of a company, and her mother was a well-known lawyer. As an only child, Clair was expected to inherit the business from her father, but she had other plans in mind. Ever since she was young, Clair had always loved music. She was absolutely enamored with it— jazz, in particular. This is because of her grandfather, a retired jazz singer. He would often take her to jazz clubs around New York whenever he visited from Seattle, and he would even sing these songs to her whenever she asked him to.
Clair's relationship with her parents were strained. They were often absorbed with their work, with endless calls coming in one after the other. They had always reassured her that it was for her own good, but for a child who needed attention and affection, it didn't sit right with her. This is why she became so needy, and when attention was taken away from her, she would often throw a fit. Clair's parents and friends at work also had high hopes for her, as she was the only one who would inherit the business. She was often pushed by her parents to do well to become the child with a near-perfect image— since she would eventually be the representative of her family. They required her to obtain high grades, and they often commended her whenever she got a perfect score in a test. As a child, Clair immediately assumed that high grades = love from parents. She often pushed herself to get as many perfect scores as she could. She dreaded group works the most because there was always bound to be someone who slacks off, which may very well mean a decrease in the final output. This resulted in her nagging everyone to make sure that everything gets done on time and by her way, which led to her classmates finding her rather overbearing. Thanks to her diligence, she managed to receive awards, and she did indeed gain the recognition among her peers and her parents; however, she only found this happiness to be temporary. She found her true happiness in music.
When she was merely 8 years old, Clair learned how to play the saxophone. This happened because she stumbled upon an old tenor saxophone in her grandfather's study during one of her visits to Seattle. He explained that he used to play the saxophone before singing for jazz gigs, and Clair was very enchanted with the instrument. After hearing him play, she demanded that she learn how to play, too. After having to convince her parents, as they thought that learning an instrument would distract her from her academics, Clair's grandfather enrolled her to take professional saxophone classes so she could play. As she learned how to handle the instrument, she found out that playing it was very liberating, and it was a good escape whenever she felt too pressured by her studies. It was then when she realized that she wouldn't have as much fun running the family business rather than playing music or performing, and it was a dream of hers to stand on the same stage as the jazz stars she so admired.
Clair had a more-or-less average school life. She did her best at everything she did, often reaping good grades and winning competitions as to not disappoint her parents. As the years passed, she eventually realized that there was more and more competition for the top spot, and this developed her fear of failure. After having built up so many achievements, she couldn't afford to let her parents down, or the people she'd caught the attention of. Her peers noticed that she was very much capable, and she ended up joining the more popular crowd in school. She loved the attention she was getting from this, especially since her so-called "friends" were reliant on her if ever they needed help with homework and the like. Unfortunately, the price she had to pay was peer pressure, and it developed a mindset that she had to act a certain way as to not get cast aside if she messed up even once. Eventually, Clair was terrified of being left alone, and this led her to trying to reassure herself that she was indeed important, and that she was much better than others at what she did, resulting in her arrogance.
Her last year of high school soon arrived, and it was at this point where Clair was met with a crossroads in her life. She had to decide what she was going to do for college. On one hand, she felt obligated to inherit the family company by becoming a Business major, but on the other hand, she wanted to pursue music and head to a conservatory to further her art. Her grandfather was her crutch during this period, and he advised her to take what she wants to, because according to his words, there is no point in living life if you're miserable with what you're doing. After graduation, Clair instead opted to take a rest year to gain experience and to sort her thoughts out. These thoughts circled around in her mind over and over, and she was growing more anxious by the day. It didn't help that her grandfather was becoming weaker as time passed, though he assured her that he was fine. Time seemed to pass unknowingly, and nothing of interest happened until Clair had taken a mandatory visit to the doctor's. After receiving the results of her blood tests, she noticed that there was another envelope that came in with the mail. She looked at it with curiosity before opening to read what it says.
"... Crowhaven Academy?"
Upon being accepted to Crowhaven:
Clair never thought how she'd ended up here. She sat in her own corner in the bus, gazing at Crowhaven Academy as it came into view. To be honest, she was mildly surprised when she received a letter inviting her to summer classes from a doctor's visit of all places, but it did show an opportunity for her to better herself— especially since it was at a prestigious academy. Who knows? Maybe she'll finally be able to decide what she wanted to do during her time in Crowhaven. Even her parents urged her to take it, though she was reluctant to leave her grandfather behind, but you have to do what you have to do. When the bus screeched to a halt, she immediately stood up and pushed through the students that were eager to get off. After collecting her saxophone bag and suitcase from the bus, but she hesitated on following the crowd when all the others had gathered their belongings. Would her grandfather be alright? Her brows furrowed as she worried over the old man. Clair very well knew he was at an old age, and she wasn't exactly welcome to the fact that he might disappear while she wasn't looking. She gazed at the departing bus, with an uneasy feeling deep in her stomach. She gulped.
Something told her that from this point on, things may never go back to the way it was.
