Description
The raiders sprang from their hiding places, surprising Duke as he looked around for wood to put on the camp fire. He growled as they surrounded him, outnumbered three to one. Duke dropped the small bundle of sticks he had gathered so far, and clenched his fists. He wasn't so much worried for himself, but more for his companions, Fangs and Berserker who were still back at the camp they had set up for the night. He glanced back the way he had come, and one of the raiders chuckled.
"What's the matter?" the raider hissed. "Scared you'll never see your friends again?"
The raider spun around the mace he held and took a step forward.
"Don't worry, once we're done with you, you'll get to see their corpses before we send you to the afterlife."
Duke closed his eyes angrily. Deep down he knew Fangs and Berserker could easily take care of themselves, but hearing this upstart talk about them as though they were nothing sparked something within him.
"You'll never defeat them," Duke said composing himself. "And you'll never beat me."
He set his feet, ready for battle.
"Because if there's one thing you should know about me, it's that I'll never let anyone mess with my friends..."
