Kiara-Ne checked her heads up display. The battle was going well for her troops. Before long, the 14th Assault Platoon would secure control of the town for the Dark Egg Legion. Gunfire came from her left and she ducked behind some cover. Kiara-Ne pulled out some smoke capsules from her pouch, and lobbed them towards the source of the shots. The capsules exploded and released thick clouds of black smoke. Rising quickly, Kiara-Ne scanned the area. The smoke did not hinder her bionic eye, and she sighted three contacts. They were not legionnaires. With a fluid movement she drew her gun and fired. The contacts crumpled as the crimson shots hit home. Three shots, three kills.Suddenly the wall of a nearby building blew out. Kiara-Ne watched as a giant machine stepped through. It's body was like a box, supported by two short sturdy legs. It had two 'arms'. One ended in four metal talons. The other looked like a massive assault cannon. Kiara-Ne aimed her gun. She flicked a switch on it. Her gun was special. A master-crafted weapon. Normally it fired crimson bolts of laser energy, but when the switch was flicked, it's output was magnified, firing raw bolts of plasma. She fired at the walker. The plasma shots hit it squarely, but caused little damage. The things armour was incredibly thick. It pivoted at it's 'waist', and the assault cannon whined as it powered up. Without warning, two searing hot balls of flame shot past Kiara-Ne, and a young female echidna with burgundy fur surged by.
Zippa Dimittri charged the walker. The Captain watched as she threw more fire balls at it. It was slow and ponderous, and Zippa had no trouble getting in behind it. She jumped onto it's back, using her flames to melt handholds. Once on top of the walker, she started to burn at it's weak spots, firing into the joints of it's arms. The taloned arm reached up trying to swat her off, but a series of neon blue plasma shots knocked it away, melting the 'fingers'. Zippa glanced at the Captain, her gun was smoking from the discharge. Taking the momentary advantage, Zippa continued her assault. Flames licked all over the walker, and it started to topple as it's joints melted and seized. Zippa jumped clear and rejoined Captain Kiara-Ne. With a final combined barrage of fire and plasma shots, the thing exploded.
"Well." Zippa said. "That wasn't too hard now was it."
Kiara-Ne didn't answer. She nodded past the burning wreckage to three more walkers. Zippa smiled.
"Bet I can destroy more than you Captain."
Kiara-Ne watched as the young trooper ran towards the enemy. Normally she would have had such insolence punished severely. But Zippa was a special case. The girl was a warrior of rare skill and power. And Kiara-Ne knew about power. It wouldn't do to get one of her most potent weapons offside. She smiled and strode off after the girl. After all, there were still foes to kill, and a battle to win...
I got the inspiration for this from two sources. Firstly, the Iron Man 2 movie poster [link] , and secondly, I was listening to War Machine by AC/DC at the time... [link]
These two, are possibly two of the most dangerous people you could meet on a battleground.

Ha! sorry i didn't comment earlier, but my iphone's machine spirit is currently on the fritz, i'm in the process of locating a techpriest lexmechanic.... anyway, the picture looks great, and i love the background story, interesting choice to shed light on these two characters and their interactions between one another, i definitely think i should work on these two interacting in legionnaire. it's very interesting because Zippa is the most powerful legionnaire in the platoon by far, and maybe even in the entire legion now that Xenin bit the dust. but yet she still is subordinate to Kiara-Ne, and actually another thing that i think i overlook and i'd like to come back to is the fact that Zippa is actually an officer, making her the acting XO, or Executive Officer, of the 14th assault platoon, even more interesting given that makes Zippa outrank some of the older members, such as Syntar, Shackler, and Dybalt. its very interesting to see Kiara-Ne's reaction to this given her aims for her own plans within the legion, i think she kind of views Zippa as a great asset but also a liability, anyway, this was awesome, really made my day, Great work!

It does open up and suggest more ideas. I was just thinking, could it be possible that someone has gotten wind of Kiara-Ne's ambitions and has 'planted' Zippa into the 14th as a way of keeping the Captain inline??? I think you're right about Kiara-Ne's view of Zippa as an asset, but also a liability. Kiara-Ne's obsession with trying to acquire my other character, Wolfen, as a living weapon has probably helped her in knowing how to 'handle/manipulate' such a powerful individual as Zippa (That could be an interesting scenario: Zippa VS a powered up Wolfen...).

interesting thoughts, all valid hypothesis's too, a lot of the intrigue going on within the legion will be revealed in the next coming chapters, expect sides to be chosen, and mysteries to be revealed!
