Description
A character whose design I based loosely off one of my favorite monster myths. He eats people D: but despite that can be a very friendly guy.I hope he looks okay. I'm kinda nervous about the anatomy

Edit: okay... tried fixing a couple things, including the too short legs. Some people have asked which monster he was inspired by too. It's an African ogre called the Sasabonsam. some of the elements I left out, like the second pair of feet and the long hair, but the original is indeed red and unnaturally tall. He sits up in trees and snatches up victims as they go by, then sucks up all their blood. Apparently you could tell which tree he was in because the ground it stood on would be soaked in red. cool, huh?

Love the way you painted him, and very interesting design overall. I don't see anything too unusual save for the size of his feet. They look a little small for his proportions. (Yet, this could easily be part of his initial design, and forgive me if someone already mentioned this critique.)

Despite the subject matter, the way you painted this, the realism, the white background, and a touch of whimsy reminds me of a Norman Rockwell painting.

other than the spine beeing a bit long i cant see anything. Maybe its just cause he is skinny, skinny dudes have that feeling of elongation. I LOVE the colour and shading

I love his little hat - but I find his eyes the most mesmerising, although they do not have pupils you feel like you could possibly lose yourself in his gaze. Very creepy, great stuff

Well, for a human it's a little out of proportion: the legs are small for the body and the arm is loong.
BUT for a monster? It's absolutely perfect and i love it lots and lots.

it looks like one of santa's elves gone horribly horribly wrong.. i like it! i like the root story too. the only thing to me is that the left arm looks a little long. but other than that i think its great!

there's a lot of great character in this picture, it's great. His left leg still seems a little short, probably easiest to increase it up near the knee and shorts, cos it seems like there's a bit missing out of the part of his leg before the knee. But anywho, yes, he's very scary to me, you've really communicated 'evil though I seem like I'm not' in this.

Totally creepy! His left arm seems a little off, the angle of his wrist and hand seem different when compared to the elbow on his leg. And the legs still seem a little too short, but not enough that its really an issue. Someone said earlier that the torso looks rubbery, I'd have to agree. He's so tall and skinny, it feels like he should have more rib and hip definition.

As this was loading, and I could only see the face, I was struck by how extremely caffeinated he looked.

He looks so happy its kindah macab in a sense but I have not read about this myth so I cannot say anything but he looks very lively, as if you could be having tea with him. His solid colored eyes bother me slightly though since it makes him seem lifeless however the coloring and his movement show life.

The lighting, especially on the face, is spot on, therefore the anatomy of the face has great form and looks very 3 dimensional, and that draws attention to the point of interest. I think darker shadows around the upper arm (the one closest to viewer) and lower hips would give the character more form in those areas, as well as the leg farthest from the viewer, especially if the shadows were in a cool tone, such a blue or purple (as you've done in other areas). The forearm and hand holding the teacup have sharper angles and edges, and I think that effect would enhance other parts of the painting, like the contour of the hip and other arm. This painting is beautiful; the color choice and the richness of the colors create a lovely balance.

I love this. There's something so humand and so beastly about this guys that he's just hypnotizing. His eyes are terrifying the way they're so huge and solid colored. If I saw a pair of such staring at me from above, gleaming in darkness, i swear, i wouldn't know what to do.
I always find it hard, to put clothes on monsters to make them look a certain way, but also to make it look believable, as if that monster would actually those shoes on or that shirt, and here, you did a great job. I could totally see him wearing those pants and that hat. A perfect fit.
His feet and hands are so human, until you notice those sharp nails, like if that long thumb nail wouldn't be visible (in the hand that's holding the tea-cup) i could swear it's a human hand! Because it is, i mean it's anathomy is, but that nail just throws that feel off completely.

I do think the legs are a bit of an issue, but if they're shorter i think it'd be pretty reasonable, the way i see it, he needs long arms to snatch his victim's from under a tree, not necessery long legs, since he needs to squatt or sit in it ayway.
