Description
While doing the post work on the first image: [link] I accidentally applied a filter to give it a cell shaded look.I like how it resembles the artwork from the Animated series!

I like how you worked in what looks like the TOS-era Bird-of-Prey that we saw in James Cawley's "New Voyages/Phase II" fan films.

They have a Klingon BoP now? Sweet... I haven't seen that series in years. What I did was to combine elements from the original B'rel class with the version from Enterprise. Then stripped out a lot of the physical detail to better match the simplified and established TOS style.
You can see it in my gallery. Or check these links! [link] and [link]

Yep, they've had for a while now. Class name translates to "Dark Destroyer" - we've seen the Bird-of-Prey as Commander Kargh's ship. She looks very similar to your design in some ways - I think the New Voyages/Phase 2 design team was thinking along similar lines as you were when trying to work out a design from the Jeffries era that looked appropriately "between" ENT and the TOS films.
I'm having trouble finding images - the New Voyages website is down right now - but here's the clip where you see Chekov's shuttlepod trying to escape the BOP.

The New Voyages website was down when I checked too. I wonder if their site is offline for good. That's a shame since it was a promising series. But their updates were pretty sporadic.
I can see the similarities though. I watch the clip and think, "Wow, there's some detail I could have added!"

Yeah - I hope their site isn't down for good. Some of their episodes matched the best the original had to offer, probably because the quality of the fan films attracted many actors, writers and other staff members of TOS to come back and contribute to "Star Trek" again.
I love, especially, how "Blood and Fire," which was shot down for TNG, finally made it as a New Voyages episode, and D.C. Fontana's "To Serve All My Days," which I just watched a few hours ago. It was a beautifully done Chekov story and it probably developed his character more in one hour than every single one of his appearances in the entire original series. ^_^;
The similarities are definitely there. I just thought it was amazing that you and that ship's designer had no contact with each other but thought up something so similar.
