Description
Lord of the Rings daemon!AU art.
Blurb about Sam Gamgee and his Norfolk Terrier daemon, Konul:
Konul is a Azeri name meaning "heart"
Sam knew Frodo and Saran were too exhausted, too drained from carrying the Ring, to make the rest of the climb, even before Frodo gave him a pleading look, a looking begging for it all to end. It broke his heart but also gave him strength. For his friend, his best friend, he would do the impossible.
"I can't carry it for you," he said as he felt strength and energy surge through him. But I can carry you!"
Moving as quickly as he could he grabbed Frodo, managing to sling his friend over his shoulders even as Konul wriggled her way beneath Saran to get the cat daemon onto her back. Together they climbed. They carried their friends, and that cursed Ring that Sam wished had never found its way to Frodo, up the mountain and, even after being attacked by Golumn, after Frodo had surrendered to the darkness, after the Ring fell into the boiling fires below, they refused to give up on the two who mattered most to them. They two they had sworn to never leave.
Sam hauled Frodo back up over the ledge and together they fled the chamber, their daemons at their sides. Sam saw the relief on Frodo's face, the way his shoulders no longer sagged, the weight of the Ring forever gone and, even though he knew they were likely to die in this cursed place, he knew his friend was free at last.
He hugged Frodo close even as Konul and Saran curled up on their chests, the feeling of completeness washing over all four and, the last thing Sam thought before the eagles appeared far, far over head was If this is how I die then at least I die with him. With my friend. And I'm quite alright with that.

I was reading through the description when I started wondering: do you have any ideas for Gollum's daemon? Do you think he would even have one?

My personal thoughts on Gollum's daemon is that he had one, back before he found the Ring, but as he slowly changed, slowly grew more and more insane, he could no longer hear or see his daemon.

That would make a lot of sense. Any thoughts on what she was before that happened? And by the way, thanks for sharing your ideas! It's always interesting to find other people's perspectives.

I think his daemon would have been something small, and given his comfort on/in water I tend to lean towards a red-eared slider or red footed tortoise.

Oh Sam. My dear, dear Sam.
