I've been playing Super Smash 64 lately (In retrospect it may be my favorite one), and during my time doing so I realized something rather peculiar about Captain Falcon in it. Aside from the strange color scheme, certain small details in his design don't look quite right.This became rather humorous to me when I thought back to the toy motif Smash 64 had, and I couldn't help but think of bootleg "Captain Falcone" action figures being sold...perhaps by street vendors in Port Town.

Well, when you get down to the root, Captain Falcon is himself a "bootleg version" of Judge Dredd.
Or in better words: an inspiration.

I'd certainly go more with 'inspired by' than bootleg, since I do think Falcon's design does have plenty of unique elements.
That said one of the things I've always wanted to see is Mr. Imamura being asked about what his inspirations were when designing characters for the F-Zero series.
He's the man behind them and the universe of F-Zero, and besides stating that he had a lot of freedom in creating them as well as being influenced by Western works, I've never heard anything too specific about it. Judge Dredd had to have been in his mind at the time.

Heck I've been a fan of F-Zero X and the series in general for years, plus I almost exclusively play as him in Smash Bros. yet only recently did I notice this. XD

In the F-Zero series, yes. Though his color scheme is still different than this one, which for whatever reason is Captain Falcon's regular color in Smash 64.
Also this one has a mirrored collar flap...or whatever that is hanging off his raised shirt collar.
