I stand alone at the gravesite of a friend.

Through my grief knowing the pain will never end.

All that is left of a lifetime of pain,

Knowing those lost can't be brought back again.

"Together forever" was the promise we made.

Through heartbreak and trial that was all we prayed.

Together forever through the blackness of night,

Through stromy weather to the end of the fight.

I kept my promise, loyal and true.

Alas but the same could not be said of you.

You left when you'd reached your sanity's end

leaving only a note saying "I'm sorry old friend."

You left never knowing how sad I would be.

Your only thought was: 'No one cares for me.'

Then with a quick slash and a splatter of blood,

You ended your life in your deathbed of mud.

I'll never forget you, I'll never forgive

You left me with nothing, how can I live?

I always loved you, I always cared.

If you'd stopped to notice, your life would have been spared

I cried alone where nobody could hear

Never knowing I sobbed, never seeing my tears.

Around others I stood proud and tall.

"Never slip," You told me. "Never fail, never fall."

Even though you're gone, you still influence me.

I still live by your words, however strange they may be.

Well, so long old friend, for your soul I will pray.

I leave to endure another day.
