Description One of two practice pieces that I have been messing with in my spare time. As you know, my weakest point in knife making is hidden tang knives. Right next to folding knives. However, to become a Master Smith in the ABS you pretty much have to make hidden tang knives for the test. Which forces me to make these knives that I honestly wasn't planning on making very many of. They are fun to do every now and then, don't get me wrong. It isn't my style though. Now I have to do it so much that I'm flawless at them. Like that will ever happen! lol

I have a hunting knife that is the other practice piece. I'll be showing you that one soon.

Ohhh and I will be getting a good picture of the Persian dagger soon. I think in a few days actually. I'll have to check in with them and see. It will be without the etching and might actually show just how awesome that knife really was. I'm crossing my fingers.

As usual a very nice piece the only thing I would have done different is instead of brass for the guard Damascus or Blued Steel but that is more personal preference. You really do a nice job sculpting handles. Now that I've made the move to my houseboat in Louisiana I may have to take a run up your way sometime would love to see your shop. I just rented one it will be good to be making after taking the last couple years off.

Ah, a lot of people don't like brass on their knives. I do have a few people that will only buy knives with brass guards. Once my shop it finished, feel free to come up!

They can be used for everyday use. I actually dropped this one on it's tip and it chipped concrete. It was pretty cool. Unintentional, but cool. lol

Thanks! The guard fit isn't as tight as I wanted it to be. I etched a design on the guard, which didn't give it a perfect fit. You can't really tell unless you really look at it, but I know it isn't as tight as other hidden tangs. You are going to the Blade Show this year, right?

Thanks! Yeah, more would have made it difficult to carve. I could have done it, but since it was a donation knife, I didn't want to go through the pain of carving more metal than I had to.

Looks great for something you don't like making . Frankly I like everything about except the carving on the handle . It's good carving just not to my taste thats all . I'd love to commission one except my finances just took a dive . Grrrrrr. goes and pouts in the corner .
