This might be a strange thing to ask, but the character on the far left, perched on the driftwood.
Is it an illusion from the light, or are they wearing a contemporary grey business suit? Part of me sees a naked savage in lavender shade, but another part sees the hint of a slit back and sewn in shoulderpads.
This is a wondrous piece rife with mystery as it is, but curious to know more.

Hi,
I love this question. I actually love drawing people in business suits/jackets with collars. I don't know why. However, the character in this painting is not wearing a business suit. I intended it to look like a cloak or some sort of coat/jacket with a collar. The slit you see in the back is the crease I made down his back to help define his shoulders and posture. Probably a little over exaggerated though.

What a paradoxical Sensation; I had a similar feeling when I visited Pikes Peak for the first time, only it was not a smell that was off putting, but rather, the commercial, hustle and Bustle noise of the visitor center behind me that was a stark contrast with the same awe inspiring landscape and civilizational achievement that was also the inspiration for America The Beautiful.

Nice!
Yeah, it's a sensation I often find myself feeling when traveling and visiting large populated cities. Standing at the observatory in Los Angeles gives a similar feeling. It's incredible to see the city lights and streets extend into the horizon and at the same time try to image how beautiful it would have been as just wilderness.

Magnificent! Absolutely magnificent!
The mysterious structures look both rather modern and oddly ancient.
And the discription from the sailor who observes this, very nice touch.
A deviation totally 'd!
