Magical objects, like this voodoo mask, are sometimes connected with very unique stories.
It was created as a demon protection and now it´s a magical prison for one of those creatures.
Even before its misappropriation as an enchanted jail, the mask became part of an… accident.
While it was in hell, an infernal being tried to disable the demon-defense-funktion. Not successful.

Everyone who wear it had a solid hellfire-creature-protection, but also a confused sense of smell.
You can smell three times the same thing and every time you have a different aroma in your nose.
And now there live a nightmare demon inside of it, involuntary. It wasn´t created for this purpose.
Means: It can hold the creature captive, but when you wearing the mask you under his influence.

This situation is a little bit strange. If the mask is on your head, you fall asleep immediately.
Really useful for insomnia if there were´t this freaky nightmares, where everything smells wrong.
Whatever your biggest fear is, you will confronted with it! And your fear will smell like butter!
Or something else that doesn´t really fit at the moment. Smell-oriented nightmares guaranteed!

You could probably use this voodoo mask for anxiety therapy… or for your enemies.
If i would were this mask, i would be confronted by the tax office and it would smell like strawberry cake.
