Description This is an old chart, done in 2003, of japanese weaponry. I've learned a bit since then, but for the most part it's pretty accurate. I drew this for my friend, Peter -> <- back in high school.

Very cool!! The japanese sword is just biutifull to look at. That's why I draw only japanese art. Even though I don't know what they mean lol. I got a couple of swords that I drew myself on my file.

This is great, but I can't read the name of the blade second from the right at the top. And is there a proper Japanese name for a Katana with a reversed blade?

You can't? Well, it's probably best that you don't, anyway, this is exclusive information.

As for the name, hell no, no Japanese smith in his right (or even partially right) mind would ever make a reverse-blade katana. What a joke!
Kenshin calls it a Sakabato, though, if you really need a japanese-sounding name for it.

Be prosperous!

Yeah thats what I thought, sounds more like something a Ninja might mike/use. Thanks for the info.

Some are pretty accurate. Did some research huh?

Not exactly sure a Buster Sword is part of japanese weaponry though
And I think a few swords there are chinese. Maybe..

Hehe, yeah. I was in the process of researching. Researching japanese weaponry has been a (now) 4-year process for me. This was drawn a very long time ago.

Thank you. I'm glad that you like them. I'm working on a much more accurate and expansive chart, but it'll be some time before I am finished.

Ah, Druggy's class, where our friendship was born. I remember you had that awesome drawing of Kingdom Hearts Cloud, and a few others that blew my mind. That's also where you told me about D&D

Indeed it was. I still have that drawing, and a few others. I never throw drawings away.

Wow! Very nice looking weaponry.

BTW, I'm pretty sure, due to our discussions in the past, that the Buster Sword was not an actual sword. I believe you said it was...what was it? "Physically impossible for one person to lift?" Something like that.

Anywho, the Zanbattou [I think that's the way it's spelt there. I can't see it all that well.], that's the sword that you said it was most like, and I couldn't remember. I'll probably remember that name now. ^__^

Logovanni In reply to NeyghtSkie [2006-11-28 19:30:34 +0000 UTC]

Neither the buster sword nor the Zanbattou are really real swords. There were gigantic swords made in Japan, but they weren't for use. They were made as offerings to temples, or as weapons for statues.

NeyghtSkie In reply to Logovanni [2006-11-28 21:36:53 +0000 UTC]

o.O I see...Well, what was the name of that sword you told me about that was designed for two people to use against opponents on horseback? What's the name of that sword?

Sorry, I mistook the Zanbattou for that sword.

Logovanni In reply to NeyghtSkie [2006-11-29 16:34:09 +0000 UTC]

That sword was designed, and it was called the zanbattou. It was maybe actually produced, but if it was, it was never put into use because it's an impossible weapon.

...Right then. Gotcha.

Either you never relayed that bit of information, or I was paying enough attention to realise you said that.
