Description
Finally something I felt proud enough to upload. I had a few other assignments, but I wasn't happy with any. For this, I kinda just did whatever popped into my head. I love Heian period, ladies, and flowers, so I shoved them all together. Whoo!edit: I know geisha aren't prostitutes, and now I feel guilty. I only used the word prostitute because I put their obi ties in the front, and the word geisha 'cause it's more recognized. Heh. I have found out the correct word for prostitute in Japan is oiran, thanks to ~SpaceBubble . The More You Know. 8D

Love the gesture and profile of the leftmost lady. They all have such cute lips. And I like that they're all subtly different - I get the feeling that they have a party in the picture once everyone's back is turned. XD

Oh lordy, the pink tinges on their fingertips and shoulders and chins make me love you.
Long time.
And it destroys me that they're so beautifully painted up to be matching little dolls and you STILL gave them their own touches of personality and distinction (The wood grain on the smoke kills me, too - so good).

I think it's a habit of mine, despite whatever I'm working on, to always make the figures inside into little characters in my head. As I painted it I made up little stories for them, which was the smartest, the nicest, the bitter one, the daydreamer. In the end, I ended up really liking these three, and I might even use them for something. I only say this because I'm really blown away that you noticed all the tiiiiiiny little tweaks I made from girl to girl to make them their own person. Thank you so much! You overwhelm me with kind comments and keen observation. You are the kind of observer pretty much all artists wish for. Thank you again!

Oiran are prostitutes ;_;. They do look like proper oiran though. Anyway, i'm loving the composition, especially the fact that its square. Always using the best colour choice (as usual), this would be a beautiful peice for any home; weather it be contemporary or collectic. *applauds*

Ooooooooooooo thank you for the correct word. I don't mean to seem ignorant, it's just that this is for class, so everyone knows the word "geisha". I just scribbled down the word prostitute in the description because I made their ties in the front. But yes, I know the geisha aren't prostitutes. Sorry and thank you for the correction! Btw, do geisha tie their obi in front or back?
And thanks for the lovely comments. I've been trying a brighter/lighter color scheme as of late. I think it's the beautiful weather we've been having lately.

It's okay really, there's just been a lot of confusion because of WW2 and all.
Oiran have very distinc hairstyles compared to the gisha ( you can probably google it and see) and tie the obi in the front for easy access.
Geisha are just entertainers who train to be basically "perfect women" so men get the high of falling in love all over again. But they're not supposed to sell thier bodies, just thier presence. Some do though, and if theyre caught, usually end up getting kicked out from thier staying place. They have their obi tied at the back.
may you live long and prosper

Thanks muchly. I really went crazy with them because I knew I didn't want to do too much painting, wanted to keep it flat.

Oh, I like the fluidity here. The entire picture moves well together. In thumbnail it looked very much like a proper print, but I like it even better full-sized!

Thanks so much! I've missed really flowing and detailed linework. This is an homage to my black and white print style from high school. I'm happy to hear the thumbnail stood out to you too, that's good to hear!
