Phil Coulson is not what you expected. You're more than a little taken off guard. For one thing he's.... really really handsome. And for another thing, he's staring back at you in shock. You smooth your skirt, unsure if something is wrong with your outfit. But as quickly as Coulson's eyes had widened, they compose themselves.
"Please," he gestures in front of his desk, "Take a seat.
You sit down gingerly, discreetly observing his office. It's quite nice, little knick knacks here and there. Exactly how you would decorate your office. If you had one.
"So, Ms. (l/n)...." Coulson shuffles through a file on his desk. You stare at it nervously. It must be yours. It had all of your personal information in it. Except your picture. You are behind on the update deadline. Maybe you are younger than Phil expected. "What do you hope to bring to this team?"
"Um.... Well, my experience and knowledge-"
Coulson cuts you off. "I don't need that."
You do a double take. "Sorry?"
Coulson leans back in his chair, regarding you with a cool gaze. "My team is very close. We've been through a lot. We watch each other's backs." Coulson moves forward, folding his hands over your file. "We've had....negative experiences with team members in the past."
You open your mouth to speak, but Coulson holds up his hand.
"My point is, you have to prove yourself to be a member of this team. Can I expect that from you?"
You nod, feeling quite intimidated and a little insulted. "Yes, Sir."
Coulson studies you a moment, making you rather uncomfortable. Then he nods too. "We're done here." And just like that, he turns away from you, opening up papers and his computer. You sit awkwardly, then decide you had better leave before he gets angry. So you hurry out and shut the door behind you.
"Hey, how did it go?" a smiling Jemma asks.
"I'm...." you glance back at Coulson's closed door. "Not sure."
