Crap. My eyes snap open and I look to my right. She's there, but thankfully her back is turned toward me. Oh not good....I slip out of bed, quiet as possible. I really don't want to deal with all the questions. After I pull on my pants, I reach for my shirt, which is draped over the end of the bed. I pause for a second as I catch a glimpse of her face. My heart speeds up and I frown. What the hell? I angrily thrust on my shirt. This is fine. It was a nice one night stand. She knew that. But....did I? I stand a moment longer, fighting with myself. Last night....it was amazing. She's amazing. She looks so peaceful right now, sleeping. She has a small smile on her face and one bare leg is draped over the sheets, uncovered. It takes every force of my will not to run my hand along that leg. I push my hands in my pockets to help me resist the urge. Then she shifts, turning over to where I would be on the bed. She frowns as she reaches out and I'm not there. Before I know what I'm doing I've taken off my shirt and pants and slipped back into bed, reaching for her. She snuggles against my side, opening her eyes and looking up at me.
"Where were you?" she mumbles.
"Bathroom," I grunt. She smiles, so tenderly my heart aches. I can't help but give her one in return. Then her lips turn down a little.
"Will you leave before I wake up?" she whispers.
I smile a little, a stab of guilt hitting me in the gut. "No," I said, rubbing my hand up her arm," I promise I'll be here when you wake up."
She looks at me a moment, as if unsure, but eventually she nods, her countenance brightening once more. She places a kiss on my shoulder and then presses her face in the crook of my neck. She pulls her leg up over my waist as if to make sure I stay where I am. This time I don't resist. I run my hand along its smooth surface, lightly and slowly so she shivers against me, pressing even closer. I wonder how I ever could have almost left her.
