Description
I slip out of bed, careful not to wake (y/n) up. I gently brush the hair back from her forehead and place a light kiss there. I love it when she's sleeping. She keeps insisting she wants to come with me on my morning runs, but she can never make it out of bed and I never have the heart to wake her up. When I turn to change into my running clothes however, I drop my shoe by accident, causing an audible thump. I cringe, waiting. Just when I think I'm safe, she calls my name. I sigh, turning back around. She's peering at me groggily, sitting up in bed.
"Are you going running?" she asks, half asleep.
"Yeah," I walk over to her, kissing her head again. "You can go back to sleep, honey."
But she shakes her head and stumbles past me, making her way to the closet. She starts changing with her eyes half closed and I can't help but smile. She's so determined. First, she puts her shorts on backwards. Then she places her shirt on inside out. When she starts reaching for two different shoes, I decide to intervene.
"Honey," I say chuckling, taking the shoes from her hands.
"What? Steve!" she protests, reaching for the shoes. I hold her back and kiss her quickly, the only way I know to stop her. She pauses, confused.
Her brows are scrunched adorably and her eyes are trying hard to focus. I sigh again.
"How about we just stay in bed today?" I say gently.
"But..." she says, but I shush her, pulling her running clothes off and putting her pajamas back on. She doesn't resist, instead slumping against me as I change her. Then I pick her up and place her back in bed. She just cuddles there, not even bothering to move. I change back into my own pajamas, then I slip back into bed, tugging the blankets over us and snuggling close. She lays her head on my chest.
"I'm sorry, Steve," she says quietly and I laugh.
"It's okay, sweetheart. We can go running tomorrow morning," I say reassuringly.
She nods her head. I stroke her arm, determined to be more quiet the next morning.
