Description
When you wake up you roll over, expecting to curl into a nice warm back. But nothing is there so you roll onto your face instead. Slightly dioriented you lift your head to peer around. Your hair is a mess in front of your face so you push it back out of the way. Sam is nowhere in sight. Did he ditch y0u? You figured Sam's brother might be the type to do that, but you never thought Sam would. Sighing, you collapse back into the bed, your face buried in the pillow. How could you have been so stupid? You liked Sam so much.... you loved him. And he just...left.You scream into the pillow, angry and frustrated.
"(y/n)?" you hear. You freeze, confused. Sam? You lift your head again, hair once more a mess in front of your face. But this time you don't push it back and you stare through the strands at Sam, who's standing hesitantly next to the bed. Oh.
"Sam?" you say.
"Yeah. Uh...are you okay?" he asks, squinting at you in concern.
"Um." You push yourself up into a sitting position, running your hands through your hair. You must look crazy. "Yeah, I'm fine!" you wave your hand. "No, I'm not fine," you sigh.
Sam walks to the bed slowly. "So...which is it?"
"Not all right," you say sheepishly, glancing up at him.
"Ah." He gingerly sits on the bed next to you. He's not wearing a shirt and you try to keep your train of thoughts from scattering.
"I thought you left," you say bluntly.
Sam stares at you in surprise. "What? Why would you think that?"
You shrug, picking at the blanket. "You weren't here when I woke up."
"(y/n)," Sam lowers his head to meet your eyes. "I just went to the bathroom."
"Oh." Well, that's embarrassing.
"Why would you think I'd leave?" Sam asks gently.
You shrug again. "I don't know...you just seemed too good to be true."
Sam smiles, taking your hands into his own. "Well, I'm here and I'm not going anywhere." Then he laughs humorlessly. "To be honest, I thought you might not be here either."
"What?" you gasp. "I would never!"
Sam grins. "Looks like we both were wrong."
"Yeah," you say, returning the smile. Sam leans forward and kisses you softly. You close your eyes, wondering how you got to be so lucky to have this wonderful man. "Sam," you say when he draws back.
"Yeah?" he says a little breathlessly.
"I love you." Something shifts in Sam's eyes and he leans forward again, kissing you with more force this time.
"I love you too," he murmurs against your lips. What started out as a horrible morning turned out perfect.
