Description
You plop down onto the couch, grabbing a big, dusty volume. Opening it to the first page, you immediately groan. Shuffling through the book, you notice there are no pictures. You look up to see if Sam reacted to your sigh, but he appears concentrated on the book in front of him. You force yourself to look back at the book, struggling to pay attention. Quickly, you find it hard. Instead, you keep peeking up at Sam. You study his profile, the way the light casts shadows against his sharp cheekbones, how his long brown hair hangs around his eyes as he reads, and how he is constantly pushing his hand through it to get the strands out of the way. It isn't long before it falls back down, though. You soon become memorized with this repeating action without even realizing it. Sam clears his throat and you startle, meeting his eyes. You blush."Sorry, I spaced out," you mutter, trying to cover your tracks. You pull your knees up and raise the textbook to hide your face.
Sam reaches out, pulling the textbook down. "You've been staring at me for the past ten minutes, (y/n). Not sure that qualifies as 'spacing out'."
You clear your throat. "How did you know I was staring at you?"
This seems to catch Sam off guard. "Uh...because...I-"
You narrow your eyes.
"Because....I notice everything when it comes to you," he finishes quietly.
You're not quite sure you heard right. "What?"
"It's true. I-I notice when you read, you bite your lip. I notice when you sing, you close your eyes. And I notice sometimes that-"
You hold up your hand. "Okay, okay! No need to get embarrassing."
You look at the book in your hands, then back up at Sam, bashfully. "You notice all that?"
Sam smiles. "I do. How could I not?"
