Description
You lay on the soft grass, comforted by the sound of birds around you. The sun shines bright, warming your skin. The sky is completely blue and clear, a perfect day in Georgia. You aren't too far from the farm house, just close enough that if you yell or need help someone could hear you, but far enough that no one can see you and you can't hear the noises of everyday living. It's simply perfect. You sigh, folding your arms behind your head and sighing. You close your eyes and start to lull off, relaxing. But then a shadow covers the bright sunlight and you squeak in horror, opening your eyes. Two arms stretch out and.....tickle your sides. Shane is kneeling behind your head, grinning down at you. "Holy- You scared me Shane!" you squeal as he continues to tickle you. "Let....me....go," you try to breath out in-between laughs. Eventually Shane relents, laughing as he moves to sit next to you. You glare up at him from your place on the ground, gripping your sides. He looks at you sideways, smirking."I let you off easy, sexy," he says. The name he calls you sends tingles down your spine.
"Don't call me that," you grumble, trying to act unaffected. You sit up, brushing grass off your shirt, avoiding looking at Shane. When he doesn't say anything, you chance a look at him. He's squinting at you in the sun, studying you.
"What?" you ask.
He shakes his head, looking away. "Nothing," he grins, a slight laugh in his voice.
You raise your eyebrow, unconvinced. "Really, what?"
He looks back at you, his chocolate brown eyes boring into yours. "You try to act like I don't affect you. But I can tell. I do."
"Oh. Can you?" you say angrily. It didn't help that he's right, but did he have to be cocky about it too?
"Yes," he says seriously. He leans closer to you and you freeze, holding your breath. He brushes his lips against yours, not fully kissing you. Then he pulls back and whispers in your ear, sending shivers down your spine. "See? You're blushing."
You push him away, annoyed. Heat is spreading up your face and you can feel it. "Now I am, you jerk."
He laughs as you turn your head away. He's absolutely infuriating!
"Look, babe," he says, and this time there's no hint of amusement in his voice. You look back at him, uncertain. "What you don't know," he says huskily, "is how much you affect me."
Your heart is beating faster as his eyes flicker to your lips. Then he reaches out and tugs you close, and when he kisses you this time, it's real. His mouth tastes more heavenly than the the sunshine you were enjoying earlier. His hand finds your waist, rubbing his thumb along the edge of your shirt. You shiver despite the warmth of the sun and his body close to yours. When he pulls back, you're both breathless. You lean your forehead against his, your breaths mingling together. Your hands are thrust into his thick curls and his are wrapped around your waist.
"How much?" you gasp.
"Real bad," he breathes. Then his lips are back on yours and you're being lowered gently to the ground. Even though he's blocking you from the sun, you've never felt warmer.
