Description
"Hey, lady!"You look up, dropping your phone in surprise. A bright light heads right for you, pushing you to the ground when it hits. You gasp, your vision going white and your ears ringing. Slowly you start hearing yells and you see a crowd of faces hovering above you.
"Hey, are you okay?" a man asks, holding out his hand. You take it, stumbling to your feet. "I tried to warn you but-"
You nod. "I think I'm fine." You brush off your skirt, checking for injuries, but you seem unharmed. "What was that?"
The man shrugs. "I don't know. It seemed to come out of nowhere. All I saw was a great ball of light headed right for you....maybe you should get checked out."
"No, I'm fine. Thanks though!" You hurry away before he can call an ambulance. You're already late for work.
"You won't believe what just happened to me," you call when you enter the lab. But no one hears you, because Caitlin and Cisco are both in a heated discussion. Neither of them notice when you walk in. You toss your purse on a chair and head over to them, where Caitlin is typing furiously on the computer.
"No," she saying firmly. "That can't be right."
"It is," Cisco argues. Then he notices you. "(y/n), tell Caitlin I'm right, aren't I?"
"Cisco is usually right," you say. Caitlin glances at you in annoyance and Cisco grins smugly. But you stand there wide-eyed. You hadn't meant to say that. "Um....sorry," you mumble to Caitlin. She rolls her eyes, turning back to the computer.
"Cisco isn't right this time," she grumbles.
Cisco already feels he has won, however, and turns his attention to you. "You look a little disheveled. And-" he glances at his watch, "you're late."
"Well, that's what I was trying to tell you. I got hit by a ball of light!"
Cisco furrows his brow. "Come again?"
"I don't know what happened. One minute I was walking down the street, minding my own business, the next I'm on the ground and people say I was hit by a ball of light and-"
"Okay, slow down," Caitlin holds up her hands for you to stop. "Are you okay?"
"Yeah, I'm fine," you say brightly. Caitlin looks unconvinced, but Cisco is peering at you curiously.
"And...nothing happened? No cool powers or anything?"
You deflate a little. "No..."
"Huh."
Cisco turns his chair back to the screen and Caitlin shrugs. "You seem fine," she smiles.
You roll your eyes. "Speaking of powers....where's Barry?"
"Oh, you mean...lover boy?" Cisco drawls, batting his eyelashes at you.
You narrow your eyes. If only you hadn't confessed that one night.... Caitlin gives Cisco a whack on the arm and he glares at her, rubbing the spot gingerly.
"He's speaking to Iris. She called him urgently this morning," Caitlin explains.
"Oh." So that's where he ran off too. You feel your heart deflate a little.
"You're so jealouuuuss....aren't you?" Cisco grins.
"Yes, I am!" you blurt. Whoa...what?! You didn't mean to say that either.
Cisco holds up his hands. "Okaaaay.....I'll just....get back to my computer stuff."
"Me too," Caitlin adds quickly.
You plop down into your computer chair, embarrassed and frustrated. Today is just not your day....
