Description
It's an hour or two later before Cisco receives a call from Barry. You try not to eavesdrop, but you can't help it.
"Hey, what's up?- Yeah, okay....- Alright- I'll let her know- Um....I don't think so- (Cisco glances at you) Okay, bye," Cisco clicks the off button on his phone, eyes still on you.
"So, Barry's at the station. He found a weird case and needs help."
"Okay," you stand up quickly, searching for your purse. Cisco holds it out to you and you take it sheepishly.
"He also mentioned you aren't answering your phone."
"Oh," you frown. You forgot about your phone. You open your purse, digging through the contents, but it's not there. Then you remember. You slap your palm against your forehead, groaning.
"I assume that's not a good thing," Cisco comments.
"No....when I fell I dropped my phone. I left it on the sidewalk," you sigh.
"I can track it for you, if you want."
You shake your head. "Don't bother. I'm pretty sure I broke it anyway." You move to walk out but Cisco stops you.
"Hey...is something going on between you and Barry?" he asks.
"Um. No. Why?" You shift uncomfortably.
Cisco eyes you up and down. "No reason."
"Okay, see ya," you rush out of the lab before the discussion becomes too awkward.
Once at the crime scene, you search for Barry. It isn't hard; he stands taller than most of the crime unit there.
Then you see Detective Joe and you make your way over to him instead. You just don't think you can act normal around Barry right now.
"Detective West. You needed me?" Out of the corner of your eye, you see Barry make his way over.
"You'll have to ask Barry," Joe nods to Barry. "He's the one that called you."
You turn to Barry, staring at his shirt to avoid eye contact. "What's up?"
"You haven't been answering my calls. Are you mad at me?" Barry asks quietly.
"Sort of," you say, flushing red. Why can't you seem to lie today?
"Whoa," Joe holds up his hands. "I can see this is personal and I'm gonna talk to some witnesses." He walks away faster than you've ever seen.
Barry watches Joe leave, then turns back to you. "What did I do?"
"You saw Iris," you bite your lip.
Barry narrows his eyes. "What-"
"Do you need me or not?" you ask impatiently, really not wanting to get into this discussion because you can't seem to can it today.
Barry studies you a second longer before sighing. "Yeah." He runs his hand through his hair, pointing at a corner of the room. "So, there's some barely half fingerprints. You're the expert on those."
You hurry past Barry, eager to concentrate on something else. He lets you work and it isn't long before you have samples to bring back to the lab.
You check in with Joe, then quickly head for the door. You're almost there when Barry steps in your path.
"Want to tell me what's going on?"
"No," you say truthfully.
"(y/n). Tell me," Barry glances around, then lowers his voice. "Did Iris do something?"
You shake your head.
"Then what? Is it me?"
You struggle to keep the words from spilling from your mouth, but something forces them out.
"It's me."
"What about you?"
"I have feelings for you," you shut your eyes, praying you're dreaming and you did not just say that. But when you open them, Barry is staring at you with wide eyes, speechless.
Your own eyes widen and then water. You quickly push past Barry, tears dripping down your cheeks. He doesn't stop you.
