Alfred comes down the stairs in the morning to the sound of sorrowful guitar music.

i adore this song to no end: [link]

even though this sounds like a traditional Irish song, it was actually written by Tommy Makem in (i think) the 1960s. it's wonderful and symbolic and i love it.

this is taking place...i'm not sure what period it is, but it's after the American civil war because Al has his glasses (that's how it is in my head cannon XD) but he's still young, he also has slightly longer hair cause he's still rebelious XDD
even though this comic is set in like... 1890s/1900s??? Kathleen is singing the song (whether you want to think she gave the idea to Tommy or just have some nice imagination, do what you like XDD)
Ireland has broken away from England at this point, or at least trying to; shown by her short hair and the fact she's living with America. the song's symbolism is pretty self explanatory, so i won't bore you with that XD

i worked so hard on the poses and i really can't draw anatomy or guitars XD so i referenced both heavily XDDD hopefully it's alright

also, if you think Kathy kinda looks like a boy in this, GOOD. cause she's kinda meant to XDD when she was young, she got mistaken for a boy a lot cause she acted like one (with brothers like her's, who would blame her? XD), Thus "England's BROTHERS" (kind of an inside joke XD) she never liked girl clothes or acting like a girl; which is why she's dressed like a boy (cause women would wear dresses at that point obviously XD), she also has quite a masculine face anyway so it works XDD
it was gonna be one long comic but it ended up being to long X'D so the last verse will be uploaded in a sec ^^
the lyrics are slightly edited from the original [link] i think it fits slightly better ^^ if i've forgotten anything just ask ^^

enjoy and comment~

Lovely...but still doesn't exactly catch the look of the late great Tommy Makem.

AFHADGAS I love this. It's so beautiful and so touching. Irish history is aboslutely tragic and I imagine Ireland the nation-tan would profoundly feel the suffering of her people during English occupation. Bravo-this is excellent.

oh my God thank you so much! i've had this concept in my mind for so long so i'm glad i finally drew it XD
Irish histroy truely is tragic and i both love and hate reading about it, though maybe i'm just a wimp :'3 (but i'll tell you, sometimes it makes me not so proud to be English X'D)
i'm so happy you liked this! thank you so much again!

Lol I just realized I commented on your stuff on two different accounts...this is ~MaeradMcConolly , this is just my main account. It really is! I've been fascinated learning about it...we don't learn it in school here in America, but because my ancestors were Irish, I decided to study it on my own time...they have one of the most tragic histories I've ever studied. I mean...everybody /kinda/ knows that /something/ went on between the English and the Irish to make them hate each other...but the extent of it shocked me. I had no idea. And then once I got into Hetalia...well, I had to make an Ireland OC. The difference though, is that I can't draw XD So I write about her instead...the emotion in your piece was so touching, so true I couldn't /not/ love it.

hahahaha!!~ that's brilliant XD thats great! i love it when people get into history outside of school!! especially if you're getting back to your roots! ;3
i know right? it's shocking when you first look into it
Hetalia is brilliant (when people don't take it too far X'DDD) i was really glad i got into it cause now i can kinda put two things i like together XD

It's really interesting! And it is shocking...every time I thought I'd read the worst thing, something else came up...Yeah, Hetalia's pretty freakin' awesome. The fans can be crazy as hell, but the show is great.

Oh yeah, Russian history is bad too. Their revolution(s) were just tragic...
That's all you really can do...because there are some REALLY nutty Hetalia fans out there...
