Description
In the Eternal War, the Time Lords of Gallifrey battled the Yssgaroth, or the Great Vampires, across the universe. Using bowships the Time Lords eventually eradicated this race of vile planet-suckers.Related content

I always feel the need to watch Doctor Who (only the classic series, though).

I love the Yssgaroth. Pre-Who Gallifrey is in general really interesting to me, and the Vampire war is one of those really interesting events, with a really interesting species.
Speaking of pre-Who, are you going to do another "Morbius Doctor" artwork? Like The Brain of Evil? That headcanon and the way you depicted it are really cool.

Gallifrey obviously has a very checkered and interesting history. A renegade timelord is not a singular concept, apparently!
Yes, I will do more Morbius Doctors. In fact, I'll do all of them.Β

Yes, the chequered and surreal history of Gallifrey has always been one of my biggest interests in the Doctor Who universe, and I'm always looking for depictions of it.
I am glad. Your headcanon for them was incredibly compelling, and the depiction of a completely unique adventure like The Brain of Evil was wonderful, it really looked like an artistic interpretation of an actual Classic Who serial, yet not 100% placeable in any one "era."

these things feed on the biospheres of entire planets, even just one can turn a world into a dead husk devoid of any life except the vampires.
the Yssgaroth in Faction Paradox were even more nightmarish, they were perceptual snake-like abominations made of eldritch "spacetime" from another universe, these cosmic abominations were capable of extending your nervous system across continents, which means torture for any species caught by them!, the blood of a Yssgaroth is highly infectious, it was implied that their universe's timeline was cannibalizing itself.

My version of the Yssgaroth is based on what little you can glimpse of the great vampire in the "State of Decay" TV episodes.

Good call-out to a great episode. The space vampire of that story had come down some in the world, though.Β

Β Such an awesome spectacle - such an awesomely cheesy starship design! (It's practically worthy of WARHAMMER 40,000 in it's delightfully shameless embrace of style over technology).Β

The Eternal War is referenced in the serial "State of Decay", where the 4th Doctor confronts the last of the Great Vampires. Other media, like comics, books and audio adventures then tell the full story.

Navigating through all the comics, books and audio adventures of the Who-niverse is quite the task. But I'm very glad there's so much storytelling out there, building on what the TV show has laid down.

Yes, that sometimes become un-lost. Though the timelords vs vampires story isn't referenced in those.

There's just one storyline, but it's been told a part here and a part there in different media.

The Eternal War was first referenced in the Doctor Who adventure "State of Decay", where the 4th Doctor finds a planet enslaved to the last of the Great Vampires and its cohorts. Since that there's been books, comic books and audio dramas that have chronicled the events during the war against the vampires.
