Finally.......... I've been working on this for almost a week. Could have finished a few days earlier if it weren't for my baby brother. Seriously, the kid's more clingy than usual.Maybe because Indonesia is a weird place to him..
Anyway I have found where the blending parameters for SAI brushes are! If you don't recall, my copy of SAI is riddled with question marks . Now it's much easier to pick colours and just mash them together lol
This was the first time I coloured and shaded something significant on a single layer. Character and background were done on one layer each, with another two or so layers added for minor touch ups in Photoshop and an initial sketch layer which served as guidelines.
It's so much more efficient drawing this way. I tried this same composition before but it just never came to be . Starting from scratch with this new approach felt much better. Honestly had no idea where it was going then slapped on a butterfly at the end and TADAAH... SYMBOLISM. ......OTL
The character is Laura, sort of a mother nature figure I'm planning to enter #Cerberus-Wake-OCT with. Her reference didn't show her backside so here you can see it's bare as a baby's bottom.
And by the way... I can't tell if there's something wrong with her arm or her face in that position. I've done anatomy as a subject but it had nothing to do with art at all...

Hmm... tool sama minsize sih ganti2, tapi parameter yang bikin brush lebih realistis itu yang di bawah lagi. Namanya kurang tau... SAI aku parah banget deh: [link] XD

That's great to hear read! My style will still jump around to try match a particular work, but naturally, I'll look for ways to apply this method when appropriate in the future!

One layer... each, for background and character (not sure if I said that in the description, can't check because my internet loads dA EXCRUCIATINGLY slow), so that's two colouring layers total 
Though I could do everything in one layer if I tried
He's cute and all, and I'd get hit by a bus to save him from harm's way, but getting constantly climbed on is kinda inconvenient lol
