Description
Was most fortunate to be asked to write a chapter for the upcoming Digital Painting Techniques Vol. 4 so I painted this as a tutorial piece to demonstrate my approach, painting metals, liquids, calculating reflections and yes, illustrating psychotic pets.Do not build one of these at home... water and electricity together are not your friend.
Pencil sketch, painted in photoshop.

I'm afraid I already have.
I avoided the electricity/water problem by using steam instead.

Cheers! A week to 10 days if I remember correctly. It was a while ago and all those zaps from the electric prods at the time did nothing for my memory

Wow, that's amazing. I also do illustrations but you are on a high level experience. How many hours per day do you paint/draw on such a picture?
Do you have videos of you live drawing? I think it would be great if you do something like a tutorial next time when you have free time. I think many artists could learn much from you. Best

O lol, just jokin, you know Klaus?

I wasn't familiar with him until someone else mentioned him in relation to this painting. Dont think I've ever seen an episode of American Dad, but it seems the idea of a despot styled goldfish is fairly universal

Well Klaus is a crazy German stuck in a fish body because the CIA Put him in there, so a crazy german fish bowl just triggered a sure thing XD

Awesome work!
I just love how your images always have some element of humour in them!
I think this suit, with the charged tips, combined with water is just an accident waiting to happen.
The pursued kitty could be having cooked goldfish for dinner soon.

Yup.... important rule of engineering and science is that water and electricity shouldn't be mixed
Cheers!

You're welcome!
This goldfish clearly wasn't in class the day this lesson was taught!
