Description
Was most fortunate to be asked to write a chapter for the upcoming Digital Painting Techniques Vol. 4 so I painted this as a tutorial piece to demonstrate my approach, painting metals, liquids, calculating reflections and yes, illustrating psychotic pets.Do not build one of these at home... water and electricity together are not your friend.
Pencil sketch, painted in photoshop.

Yes, you thought koi ponds were about harmony and inner peace, but really they are the breeding grounds for world domination and suffering!
Cheers!

Does the fish know about that bad combo...or he just think that if a cat catch him it's another way to make him suffer!!! Take no prisoner!!

If any of the electrical sparks hits his water, he'll soon find out Not sure if the cat would mind a little fried fish either.

I love it, I would just personally, if you care, make the cat footprints more obvious. They help to tell a great story, a shame they aren't seen as mush. Just saying. Nice job

Thanks, and thanks for the input! It was a tossup kind of thing there - I'm sure more people would see them if they were more obvious, but I've always liked adding things in that aren't apparent at a quick glance to reward people who look at my work more closely. Cheers man!

This is a brilliant idea. Started grinning the instant I saw it. Love the detail - the little gage on the chest plate, etc.

You'll lose the grin quick enough when he zaps you though
And yes, gages are important to have on the catchaser 3000 - you dont want to overcook your coils and lose your zap at the wrong time when chasing cats.

Thats a game right? Not much a gamer I'm afraid... though I used to be quite handy on Tetris (ouch that makes me sound old doesnt it?)

Yeah. Ratchet & Clank has a good number of sequels, the one I speak if is called Ratchet & Clank Future: Tools of Destruction, for PS3. Half of the enemies you fight in that game are goldfish in mechanical robot armor.
