Like most of my paintings, I only used 2 brushes for this - standard photoshop soft edge brush and standard hard edge brush.
I've done a few tutorials for Imagine FX and Digital Painting techniques vol 4, but here are a few step by steps I have on dA if they are helpful

The monkeys came in on the 705 bus... nobody is quite sure where from, but they stayed, partied and then headed off that evening, never to be heard from again!

This style almost reminds me of the movie The Incredibles, with the flexible, almost elastic looking limbs and the amount of curves involved in one single pose. Very cool and full of great subtleties in the shading as well as the drawing.
