Description
Starting my own 'How fast is your spaceship?' week of scifi nerdiness. Today, Star Wars...What can I say, I love my scifi!
Pencil, ink on paper, Paint in photoshop.
EDIT: Fixed the spelling of 'Millennium' (d'oh!) and added the parsec disclaimer. If only George Lucas had put one in in his movie

It is, but I don't think it's wise to trust him for repair work

Wait a minute....
I've been hearing that line for nearly all of my life (well, not every day but on and off) and it has only just occurred to me that a run is a route and a parsec is a length of distance.
NOT TIME!
Damn you Lucas! Damn You!!!!!!
Next thing you know they'll be putting hilts on light sabers.

They may have come up with a convoluted explanation for his misstatement, but the truth is, they [i.e., G.L.] had no idea what they were talking about when the dialog was written. Β I always used to joke that everybody else had to take the long way around, because of the bad neighborhoods...
Be that as it may, I really like this. Β As usual, you have taken an iconic icon and turned it on its ear. Β And, if you check this out >>>Β My Toys 6 Β <<< you'll get why I really Love it.

Oh, and thanks for the kind words and I like your 'bad neighbourhood' explanation

His cab used to be available too, but by the time I found out about it, the only place you could get one was on E-Bay and the people selling them, I think, were trying to pay off student loans or something. Β I could never picture forking over that kind of cash for what was basically a $25.00 toy. Β I keep an eye peeled, though.. you just never know. Β The movie was way more popular in its home theater incarnation than it ever was at the box office - I have no idea why; to this day, if I'm flipping channels and stumble upon it, I always wind up watching whatever is left of it, be it 90% or 5%. Β Definitely one of my all-time favorite movies.

I like the dude[tte?] who gave the whole 'scientific' explanation of light speed, distance and time. Β Well thought out. I still don't buy any of the alternative explanations, like him testing the knowledge of Luke or that whole avoiding some mysterious black hole thing. Β Dude just threw in what he thought was a scientifically accurate statement, hoping to impress the audience [of 12 year olds]. Β And was just plain wrong.
Not sure I get the Big Bang Theory reference. Β
