Jus't one more question please : the skin layer of the samurai girl, did you use just one layer or you use multiple layers (base skin, highlight, shadow)?

Skin was all painted on one layer.

You are most likely referring to Romero - he did a whole stack of the modesty stories themselves and despite the fact that he's about 80 now, he's still doing covers today.

As a kid I was freaked out by Francis Bacons painting of the pope and the blur shine on the Samurai was my little nod to "Study after Velázquez's Portrait of Pope Innocent X".
