Description
I have a confession to make⦠I'm a sucker for quirky micro cars. While others are welcome to enjoy their sports cars, SUV's, 4x4's or minivans, I like my cars tiny, somewhat underpowered and just a little temperamental.
Recently purchased a 2006 smart fortwo and it amused me that if I applied a logical sequence to the shapes of the cars I have owned over the years, the next one would, in fact, be spherical.
Of course I had to design it and draw up my old carsβ¦.
Pencil sketches - painted in photoshop.

I have been warned about the stability issues of a three wheeled car, so I will just stick to my smart car for the time being I think

This made me chuckle. I like your design for the last car in the sequence. Is it based on an actual concept car?

Just something I made up - not sure it would work all that well in reality though.
Cheers!

That's actually a really cool looking thing. Probabl impossible to park though unless those wheels retract.

Depends on the width I guess, but wheels that expanded out for higher speed stability and retracted for parking would be pretty cool.

Twizy looks like SO much fun to drive... not sure I like the idea of owning the car and having to lease the battery - or having no windows to stop the rain, but thats all moot because I don't think it would pass regulation here in Australia

Fourtwo...really? I drove one not to long ago and I found it an unplesant little thing; I'll stick with my '71 VW van. Great picture though.

Its definitely a quirky kind of car and very much an acquired taste and not for everyone - the trick is to NOT use the fully automatic setting (its pretty awful), but to manually change the gears and pretend it has a clutch. Took me a couple of weeks to adjust, but now its a smooth trip and a real blast to drive. Not great on bumpy roads because of the short wheel base, but just brilliant for turning, narrow lanes and parking. 71 VW is a classic though!!

Suggestion: use two wheels at front and one wheel at the back. This will give you more room and the vehicle will be more stable.

Oh, god you had a Matiz? The worst car I've ever owned or even come across. Bought a used one without knowing that after the 100.000 km mark they tend to fall apart. Spent almost four times the buying price on repairs.
I do like that we share a taste in car size though.

My Matiz didnt last long - crumpled like a paper bag when a motor bike hit it from behind. Bike was okay, aside from a slight twist to its handle bars, but the Matiz was a total right off. I didnt mind it too much at the time, but not a car I would ever own again.
