Description
I have a confession to make⦠I'm a sucker for quirky micro cars. While others are welcome to enjoy their sports cars, SUV's, 4x4's or minivans, I like my cars tiny, somewhat underpowered and just a little temperamental.
Recently purchased a 2006 smart fortwo and it amused me that if I applied a logical sequence to the shapes of the cars I have owned over the years, the next one would, in fact, be spherical.
Of course I had to design it and draw up my old carsβ¦.
Pencil sketches - painted in photoshop.

The only minicar I'd love to purchase would be a classic Mini Cooper with white stripes, blue base colour and four additional lights^^

You, Sir, are a GENIUS!!! Love it, man.
Hey, I'm 6 feet tall and I, too like the small cars for some reason. My first car was a Honda Civic 2door hatch back. Have had two Toyota pickups (Hilux and Tacoma).
Now I have a massive Tundra four door and a four door Jeep Wrangler (not huge but bigger than the 2 door Jeep I had for about a year).

The Wrangler is cool! I'm a big fan of the old Jeep Willys, and the wrangler kind of reminds me of it Weirdly enough, my current smart car is the tallest and widest car I've ever owned... though its a bit shorter than the others (but only by a bit). Got a suspicion your Tundra is wider than my smart is long... pity I cant park next to it and take a photo
Cheers man!

Yeah, my Tundra feels like a behemoth compared to driving the Wrangler (or my work car - a Subaru Legacy)!
Wish you could park next to it and take a pic - that would be awesome.
"cuz then I'd be all "Loopydave parked next to MY CAR!"
You might be able to park in the bed of the Tundra, though...

Haha. Logically amusing. My only query is that your next car should have more of a "smile", considering the grill of your current car, and the kinda serious look look of your first one, then the second one being kinda in the middle.
Nice image!

You're right... its funny, I hadn't noticed the 'smiley grill' progression until someone pointed out that all my cars were happy ones
Cheers!

Must be a hatch up the back to get in Not really practical, but then micro cars rarely are
Funny thing is I got better grades in technical drawing than art in highschool and I enjoy mixing things up and painting different stuff
Cheers!

The mightyboy reminds me of the parents' car on Calvin and Hobbes. Great work! I always laughed when I saw that car... too funny.

Cheers! I must sit down and re-read some of my Calvin and Hobbes books - wonderful stuff!
I put small porsche mag rims on my mighty boy - got a lot of attention, even if it was just to laugh at

I'm 6ft 4in and 17st so the comedy value of my Ford KA is not inconsiderable! It's little more than a rucksack on wheels really but it's cheap as chips to run so I'm not going to grizzle too much. One day though, one day... Love the concept car Loop, looks like you've cross-bred a motorcycle helmet with a Reliant Robin.

I'm a broadish 6 footer and I got a similiar feeling when I used to drive my old Suzuki Mightyboy. I got used to the tight cabin space though and now that I drive a Smart Fortwo I'm kind of dissapointed by how spacious the cabin feels
Cheers man!

Cool evolution sequence. Hurry up to get your spherical car, because if you take a look at the new car design trends, you may end up with an ugly cube.
Wonderfull drawing as usual !

Loopydave In reply to Dom-Graphcom [2012-04-08 14:01:54 +0000 UTC]
There are a few cars that seem to be heading that way... even the most recent prototype of the smart fortwo is heading away from a lovely curved line. Even though the cube is good enough for the Borg, its not really a shape I like my transportation.
Cheers!

Have you checked out Fiat Punto's or Mini Coopers? I own a Fiat Punto great car and has the lowest gas consumption Ive seen on a vehicle so far
π: 0 β©: 1
Loopydave In reply to Altimeter [2012-04-11 15:31:10 +0000 UTC]
The Fiat Punto reportedly does have great mileage - pretty similar to the smart car in fact... and it fits four! Mind you I just like mini-cars and the fuel efficiency is just kind of a bonus for me.
Mini coopers are cool - the original sizing made it about the only car on the road that made my Suzuki Mighty boy feel big . Not sure you can call the new Mini that mini though.
