nice choice of colours, maybe not enough contrasting though, very good overall

How'd you do the splatters and organic effects? In a vector program that would be pretty hard unless you've got some fancy brushes... or the patience of an ox
I definitely dig that colour scheme and think the whole presentation of the effects are brilliant, but something just isn't right about the figure in there... maybe if his legs were faded out or hidden... he just looks too whole...?
The piece looks great in there and I like how you "splattered the paint" on it.
All and all great piece for a first attempt.

cheers man... the splatters where scanned splatter marks i made on paper the live trace in illustrator and the organic shapes were drawn with fine liner and then scanned in and live traced in illustrator.

holy shit, deep techniques. My question, in trying to find the easiest way, is can we import photoshop brushes in to illustrator?

dont think so... photoshop brushes are pixel based brushes i think. might be wrong. you could use photoshop brushes save the file and use live trace in illustrator to vectorise the brushes though i guess...
