Description
Apparently I've been drawing horse melodrama for six goddang years? I figured I'd showcase how the main cast has grown and changed from their original concepts. The first panel of each character features the very first concept drawing I ever did of them~
What a wild ride this has all been. A warm thank you to all of you, who continue to inspire me everyday.

have a really (really) old fic where lord slashstab kidnaps cupcake and stormy, prompting a rescue team-up between pandora and bruce
Worst Rescue EverPandora prowled forward, her padded paws allowing her to move ahead in deadly silence. Her eyes glowed gold in Luna’s moonlight. Crouching low in the bushes, she gave the signal to Bruce.
“I don’t know what that bloody means!” He hissed. “You could have at least gone over this rubbish rescue plan before you teleported us here!”
Pandora rolled her eyes. The two of them were currently staking out a heavily fortified castle, the imposing fortress in which Aerostorm and Cupcake were currently being held hostage. Two armored guard ponies stood watch over the main entrance, which was sealed with bars made of magical electricity. Things weren’t looking good.
“I did go over the plan, you were just too busy blubbering about your poor missing fluffy hubby to listen.” Pandora whispered furiously. “We get in, we grab our ponies, we get out. Is that too complicated for you, Professor Carcharodon?”

If Bruce was Pan's eventual love interest, would they have stayed together (including when she tried to take over the world or whatever?) Also, if Pan was supposed to be the big bad guy, would that make Moondancer the good guy, like in that one AU drawing you did? Or would perfect Skyla have been the hero? (Additionally, how old was Skyla when Flurry left?)
Wild to think I've seen all of these panels as they were posted in real time (if I remember correctly). Thanks for a great six years of storytellings so far!

- I'm not sure. I know Bruce and Pan weren't ever meant to be a functional couple, they just kept meeting up out of mututal loneliness. I think eventually, after a good long period of mayhem and wanton destruction, Pan would've reformed. Now an immortal goddess, she would've met up with Bruce when he was a middle-aged stallion, and they would've accidentally conceived Oddball (back when Odd's design was mostly black). I'm not sure how much of a happy ending this would be, Pan was going to outlive everyone she knew. I distinctly remember drawing Bruce bonding with Oddball though. So yeah, Bruce and Pan would've been together on and off, up to his eventual death.
-I hadn't conceived Moondancer yet when Pan was still meant to be evil. The heroes of the story were Twilight and Discord, who were tasked with capturing/neutralizing their rogue daughter. There was a lot of angst in the story, because Pandora was meant to be the avatar of destruction, the same as Discord is the avatar of chaos. I don't think Skyla really existed yet either, though if she did, she'd have been a fussy and helpless princess, and evil!Pan would've had fun terrorizing her.

So Pan and Bruce would've conceived a black Oddball as opposed to Mako (or is that just an AU thing)?

Yup. I didn't conceive Oddball with a father in mind, so I just kinda settled on Bruce. Mako came from a later AU. Later y'all turned me on to Pancake and I made Odd a Pan/Cupcake double-dipped chocolate chip bab.

Oh sorry for the intrusion tho, but I remember Lop posted once a few "options" she had in mind that could be Oddball's dad back then (when his design was mostly black and purple), one of them being Lucent, this mad scientist guy probably, and another one being a dragon prince from a far away land I believe?
Although Arte's dad is supposed to be and old griffon professor or something.

Wow, I remember when all the pics in the second panel were new. Really awesome to see how far your characters have come and how far you've come as an artist and storyteller too. It's just so friggin rad.

I really love seeing where the characters originated and the comparison in their personalities! Moondancer remains my favorite despite his careening down a very dark path...Or maybe that just made me like him even more. I rarely enjoy such a character but yours are SO WELL DONE. <3
This has made me realize maybe I don't enjoy my own characters and designs much because I don't give them enough of a chance to grow and change...I will have to work on this.

In a way I can't pin, I love that Bruce, Skyla, Pandora, and Moondancer have changed the least, design-wise, where as everybody else has changed, in a couple cases, drastically between first version and latest. I think it might be that, you can see who had a design that felt 'just right' from the start, and who still needed some tweaking to get that Perfect Look for who they are as a character - Best example of that being Misty turning into Cloudburst and finding just what design was RIGHT for her, in comparison to Bruce who's clearly had a design that was just Perfect from the get-go(IE, he's had the least amount of tweaks to his overall design, outside growing a rockin' beard)

This is so cool. It's like watching your own children grow. I have grown to love every character of yours but to see how far these specific ones have come is truly amazing. All of them have learned so much, and grown from it. I love how you put this together. Amazing. I still can't decide if i hate or love Moondancer, which is just another example of how good your story telling is.

Dude... Phoenix has a rectangular muzzle. Get over it. Some females look more masculine, some males look more feminine, it's completely normal and Phoenix looks great no matter what. Her design just happens to 'look' more masculine. I don't think you mean anything malicious but c'mon
