The King of Shadows left a fragment of himself behind....Yep. Quick lil fanart, tired of looking at it. That new episode was awesome. To all you crying about how flat of a villain Sombra was-well. Eh. Yeah, he was, but so are ALL the MLP villains. Chrysalis didn't even get a name on-screen! You all just like her cause she's pretty. >_>
Sure, he didn't really have a character motivation-(I'm just evil! Woooooo!). He was actually a threat. Nightmare Moon wanted eternal night, Discord wanted to fuck up your shit, and Chrysalis was just hungry. Sombra wanted to enslave hundreds of people. Just cuz.
Also Cadence came in and was like I'M NOT A MARY SUE FUCK YOU, so I love her now

It reminds me of the little cut-scenes that play whenever you put on a mask in Majora's mask. I dunno, that's just the first thing that came to mind for some reason.

Maybe I'm alone in this, but it kinda gave me chills when Celestia demonstrated that dark magic so easily. Quite the reminder that she's ancient and powerful, huh? And then Twilight used it herself, and I got worried. She doesn't have the centuries of wisdom and practice Celestia does, so I wonder how this will affect her later on. Like Amras below me, I kind of hope to see this explored in an episode.

I kinda hope that we see a corrupted Twilight at some point, where overuse of dark magic for one reason or another brings out her inner darkness. This would be an interesting, albeit frightening, concept to see in an episode.
Sauron didn't really have any motivation beyond enslavement of all races in LOTR, either. And he was a similarly disembodied villain. With similarly vague and sinister lines. And I liked Sauron as a villain as well~

Regarding the Sombra line--YES. THANK YOU SO FUCKING MUCH. I am so sick of people whining and bitching about how Sombra was flat, a dumb brute, useless, etc, etc, etc...makes me want to choke a bitch. At least Sombra was a fucking THREAT the entire episode; he wasn't just dicking around. (Don't worry Discord, I still love j00)
Ugh...now that that's off my chest...gotta say I love the pic. The coloring style you used is especially nice. :3 Kinda gives it a storybook feel.

Yeah, I feel like Sombra's weight as a villain was more on the promise of his threat, rather than him. That's why the buildup was so intense- the lives of an entire kingdom were at stake, rather than y'know Discord, who just wanted a laugh.
Sombra's dialogue was pretty bleh though. And half the time I had to rewind to figure out what the heck he mumbled.

Yeah, I agree. Sombra seemed like more of a threat than, you know, a "villain"-villain, so to speak. But that's part of what makes him interesting. I for one would like to know more about him...

Yeah...hopefully they'll reveal more in a future episode (though it'll probably have to be flashback unless Sombra has the power to like, magically repair himself). I'm really hoping they do because the constant bashing and ridicule has me wanting to choke a bitch. : P

Celestia DID tell what would happen if Sombra got the Crystal Heart - all of Equestria trapped in Sombra's dark design. So yes, his ambitions were just as dangerous if not moreso.
(To be frank, Discord didn't even lift a finger to defend himself from the finisher, or even flee)
