Description
Some general picture info. This is EDI, a character from Bioware's Sci-Fi RPG series, Mass Effect. Introduced in Mass Effect 2, the Normandy SR-2, a reconstruction of the player's starship from the first game, the SSV Normandy, was outfitted with the Enhanced Defense Intellegence, or "EDI" for short. EDI in ME2 generally simply exposits plot information, makes witty remarks with / around / about the ship's pilot, Lt. Jeff "Joker" Moreau. She appears as a small spherical hologram avatar, voiced by Tricia Helfer of Battlestar Galactica fame.During the events of Mass Effect 2, the Normandy SR-2 comes under attack, whilst the player character is not present. EDI's behavioural "shackles" are removed in order for her to counter the enemy threat. This action gives the AI free will, and begins her character development outside of being an exposition machine.
Flash Forward to the 3rd Game, Mass Effect 3. On Mars, the player encounters another Cerberus AI creation, a sleeper agent named Dr. Eva Coré. In typical Terminator fasion, Dr. Coré appears to be a synthetic being with organic skin concealing her true form. Dr. Coré is incapacitated by the player, and brought aboard the Normandy SR-2 for study.
EDI attempts to re-activate the inert mechanical body, and faces resistance when Dr. Coré fights back. Left with no other option, EDI takes direct control of the body, using it as a mobile platform to speak with crew members, leave the ship and assist the player in battle.

Artist's notes:
THIS. HURT.
3 days wasted due to a sudden program crash during colouring, another crash the very next day while linearting, and overall a pain in the ass to do.
Yet I still feel proud of this... for some reason.
I experimented with opacity to get the hologram effects on EDI's omni-tool and eyeliner.. thingy.. what are those, holo-shades? And am pretty pleased with the results. The little tinted shine around her body is faint, you probably won't be able to see it unless you download the High-Res version, but I think it helped add to the 'chrome' look, like the light is reflecting off her body?
EDI has been growing on me as a character lately, and I just plain love her design. So, here's this.
The background is an ME3 screenshot I got off Google images. I'd credit someone if I knew who was responsible for taking it. Until then, it's unknown.
Anyway, I'm done for now. Copyright time.

Um... yes? I can link some WIP sketches to prove it. I have actually been practicing. I think. I learned a few new tricks with layering and transperancy. Thanks for noticing
PS. A commission? That would imply I have money

Ah. Yeah those are usually requests and trades And I do usually put them on my RT account, so the mistake is understandable.
Thanks!

I meant to comment on this earlier and only just now finally got around to it...anyways. This looks absolutely great EDI is probably one of the more interesting characters that was included in Mass Effect. And really? I didn't know that the voice actress for Dare in Halo was the voice they got for EDI, that's cool.
Great piece as always Lorcan ^_^

It's okay I know the feeling. Sometimes art just gets buried in my inbox and it takes AGES for me to find and comment on it ><
Thank you! I found her really interesting, and throughout ME3 as she learns to be more 'human' her character becomes more of a joy to speak with. Yep! That's Dare's voice actress. She also plays the character Sarah Kerrigan / The Queen of Blades in Starcraft II: Wings of Liberty. She'll get the lead role in the upcoming expansion pack "Heart of the Swarm". This woman is all over my video games
Thank you!

Yup...especially since I tend to be kinda lazy in going to look for it >_>
Yeah, I've seen a couple of scenes with her jokes ...they're quite funny, haha, more because of playing off of typical AI stereotypes though, lol. And she's in Battlestar Galactica as well if I remember hearing correctly. Ah, the Zerg's overlord huh.
You're welcome
On a completely random and different note...oh mai goshes, I am so gorram excited for Halo 4 ^____^ it looks so awesome
