Description
Something fun and colourful for the last day of the year! Wanted to play around with existing stuff and see what I come up with. Not quite happy with the result, but was great to do something for myself for a change. Will do more with those things in the near future, trying to improve myself.Made with Blender and Photoshop.
I wish you all a good start into 2020! Hope you like it!

If I didn't know better, I'd though this is a homeworld 2 fanart. Nicely done nonetheless.

Uh, not planned actually, but I'm a huge fan of Homeworld, and it's influence in my artwork is undeniable

I cannot tell you how well you have done. I would be easily fooled into believing it's a still from a modern sci-fi film. That's how lovely it is.

Thank you very much! I'd love to work on a sci-fi film at some point, but I guess they wouldn't be as colourful as this

I doubt it. Your rendition is eye-catching as is.

Well, maybe I get to do that in the future then, we'll just have to wait and see

I have question. First of all I just saw this and im unbelievably impressed with how gorgeous this art looks. Â
now for my question. I have seen some people use pictures as the based for their art and doing a mix of 'photoshopping' and adding digital art of their own. it is hard to tell in this image but it looks like this is NOT the case. so my question is, is the texture of the planet a picture that has been modified? or is that all from scratch?

First: Thank you very much! Glad you like it
To your question: My scifi pieces are a mixture of various techniques, both 3d and 2d. Some of the elements (mostly textures) have been aquired from other sources, but none are used without modification - I don't use stock in my spaceship scenes. The planet surface is a mixture of various textures + plenty of paintover.
I hope that helps, otherwise just ask away

Epic level stuff here...as always.
I'm getting an "Executive Assault 2" vibe off this.
Then again, it could be because I just finished a marathon session of that game the other night (I swear, it was 3pm when we started...have no idea how we kept going until 1am the next morning).

Always a good sign when a game can draw you and without you realising the time spent! But I haven't heard of that game yet to be honest

That's because you're a kick-ass artist and not a slacker like me.
You make the cool stuff.

Ah, Warhammer, probably the most expensive tabletop game to get into.
So glad I never fell into that trap...(as he looks at all his Battletech rulebooks, maps, miniatures, and his Drozone Commander armies which he uses for his Battletech stuff)...
Yep...so glad I didn't blow my money on that expensive hobby/game/addiction.đ
